Monetary Policy Intervention: BoU has finally caved and tapped into its foreign exchange reserves, selling an undisclosed amount in a bid to stabilise the rapidly falling shilling.
Fiscal Policy Intervention: MoFPED has also directed MDAs to cut non-essential spending by half in an attempt to save the shilling.
The latest monetary and fiscal policy tools employed by the Bank of Uganda (BoU) and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development seek to reduce the gap between the amount of shillings chasing the dollar and to crowd out shillings in circulation through expenditure.

Show me a burial or church service where a politician is not in attendance and does not get to speak or campaign, and I will show you a place that is not in Kenya.
Kenya is not USA. Coalitions must be built before the election otherwise Kalonzo voters can refuse to back Sifuna in a potential round two. People tend to vote more along ethnic lines than on issues.
Senator @edwinsifuna take lessons from Pres. @BarackObama. Democrats did not want a one term senator to be their candidate and wanted the most experienced candidate, Hillary Clinton. Obama still went for parimaires and won.
So don't accept the Deputy President slot and go for primaries. The primaries in Kenya is the first round where you will tussle it with Pres. Ruto and HE Kalonzo. In this three horse race, most likely non will get the 50%+1. But Pres. Ruto will be among the top two candidates and shall qualify for round two.
Then opposition flag bearer shall emerge from round one and to tussle it out with Pres. Ruto. I bet Sen @edwinsifuna will be in round two of the Kenyan Presidential race if there is no clear winner in round one.
So seize the moment. GenZ are with you all the way.

My brother Ferdinand. I have read the judgment, including the Court of Appeal decision in Chebrot v Soyekwo relied upon by the learned Judge. I do not dispute the principle that proof of electoral irregularities, without proof of substantial effect on the result, is insufficient to nullify an election under section 80(1)(a) of the Parliamentary Elections Act.
However, the critical question is whether Chebrot is distinguishable on its facts.
In Cheroot, the irregularity concerned 141 missing unused ballot papers against an established winning margin of 162 votes. The Court could therefore assess the possible effect of that specific irregularity against an otherwise accepted result.
In Nalubowa, the High Court expressly found that the recount itself was conducted unlawfully because the integrity of several ballot boxes and essential electoral materials had been compromised. Indeed, the Judge adopted Byanyima v Ngoma Ngime, which treats a recount conducted on compromised materials as fundamentally defective.
The question, therefore, is, in my view, whether the learned Judge could properly treat the figures produced by that unlawful recount as the reliable baseline for applying the substantiality test.
The learned Judge compared 1,353 excluded votes with a winning margin of 2,326 votes. But that calculation assumes the reliability of the remaining recount figures, notwithstanding the challenge to the integrity of the recount process itself.
That is the distinction which requires examination. The substantiality test is not in dispute. What is debatable is whether it was correctly applied to the evidence in this particular case.
The legal question is not simply whether 1,353 is less than 2,326. It is whether the 2,326-vote margin was itself reliably established.
This one is not surviving the Supreme Court. We can’t bend rules like chewing gum.
If a party wants to benefit from a mortgage, they should meet the legal requirements of a valid mortgage deed.
Short of it, the residue is a loan agreement and they can only recover the loan amount based off of it as such.
The Supreme Court just recently settled this position in Global Capital Save 2004 v Alice Okiror but it seems the learned appellate justices were aloof to this decision.

This is a fight we are willing to take on to the death. Do you know how traditional law firms exploit young lawyers? Have you bothered to find out why lawyers are running away from the traditional law firms to these new entities you want to fight?
It is because they are paid much better, they are valued more and given better opportunities for growth.
Limiting opportunities to law firms that are the main reason for the current exploitation that is ongoing in the profession is not wise to say the least.
Do you think young lawyers will earn more if this is done? Or the seniors will just have a bigger profit margin.
As long as you aren't providing alternatives for the people you want to render unemployed or even promote better working conditions, this idea will be fought and I hope no one votes in any new members in the ULS leadership with such apocalyptic ideas.

This is duly noted @SilverKayondo...Reason we have been calling for the Independence of the Law Society
Today, we tell young lawyers that law firms cannot absorb all of them and should look at emerging markets. Tomorrow, we’re advocating that the new opportunities they have got should be suffocated. The irony is glaring. I believe there are advocates and members of the Uganda Law Society in these entities who earn a living from there and the licensing requirements are not any different.
Check the response to this quoted tweet. (I am deliberately not engaging with it because it falls below the threshold).
These are your senior lawyers charged with mentoring young lawyers 👇
A totally respectfull differing opinion from a young lawyer met with this kind of response. 🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
There is a common denominator between the senior lawyers most young lawyers admire and look up to for inspiration and the self proclaimed ones. The ability to engage with substance over ad hominems.
My brother @Kalungi_H_Rae hold your head high. Dr. Ruhweza at law school used to remind us that the difference between junior and senior lawyers is that the latter were born earlier and joined law school earlier and the quest for knowledge has no seniority.
New precedents are set by lawyers and jurists who sought to think differently. But more importantly, continue getting inspiration from more authentic senior lawyers.

Those are very little, matters can go for like 3 days on just cross examining one witness that's what a right to a fair hearing is about it's not about how fast a cross examination ends it's about how well the other party is left to make their point.
I believe if evidence has been led by way of affidavit, cross examination should not last beyond 15 minutes, and should be confined to particular paragraphs of importance that are not clear and require more clarity. What normally happens is a fishing expedition.

GOVERNANCE BY TANTRUM IS NOT HEALTH POLICY
U.M.A condemns the unlawful summary suspension of Dr. Robert Candia by Hon. Min. of State for Health, Hon. Anifa Kawooya. We demand:
✅ Immediate rescission of the suspension
✅ An end to political theatrics in our health facilities
This is just stupidity!
UPDATE: The Minister of State for Health in charge of General Duties, Anifa Bangirana Kawooya, has suspended a health worker after allegedly pocketing while speaking to her.

The only thing Gashumba did was to touch on their means of livelihoods and they all came out barking. There is no God involved.
Is it not the time for MOFPED to implement radical austerity measures, especially spending cuts? Why does BoU keep cleaning up MOFPED’s mess. BoU also has limits.

MONETARY POLICY STATEMENT | October 2026
The Bank of Uganda has raised the Central Bank Rate (CBR) from 9.75% to 12.0% after a special Monetary Policy Committee meeting on 14 October 2026.
The decision aims to contain rising inflation risks driven by higher fuel prices and exchange rate pressures, while safeguarding price stability.
The Bank also raised the Cash Reserve Requirement (CRR) from 11.0% to 13.5%, effective 24 September 2026, to manage excess liquidity in the banking system and strengthen monetary policy effectiveness.
