to be in love and to have children is the ultimate test for uncertainty tolerance and detachment from outcome

i really do believe that shared context / memory may allow us to get access to telepathy (among other New Senses) if we can just get through the economic and epistemic fragilities of borrowed intelligence

more precisely, shared memory might give us something functionally indistinguishable from telepathy: when two minds share enough context, almost no information has to be transmitted for one to reconstruct what the other means

one thing i don’t know for certain is if this will divide us or bring us closer together or if we will get closer to truth

a grant program quietly encodes a theory of reality and asks - what counts as knowledge, where novelty comes from, whether the future is predictable, whether people can be evaluated in advance, whether discovery can be planned, and how much uncertainty an institution is willing to tolerate

I’m always impressed when people discover new heights in a career path that everyone assumes has a “cap”. Nathan Fielder was already the new hit “Silly Camera Guy.” Every few years a new one emerges after people get sick of the humor of the last guy—like Sasha Baron Cohen, Eric Andre, Tim & Eric, and Tom Green. But what’s remarkable is that he used his 15 minutes of fame to break out of “Silly Camera Guy” and prove that he is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time.

my hot take is that mistreating your body is an act of oppression. and "becoming more embodied" is not a personal achievement but an act of biological justice

Paul Krafel was right and skillful action boils down to latching onto upward spirals. These spirals represent the autotelic tendency of life. A vortex is how life creates itself while simultaneously creating conditions for more of itself. It’s wasteful not to leverage that.
