For years, we worked hard to bring Haringey’s communities together, building trust and standing up for everyone. Especially after October 2023, that work mattered more than ever.
The levels of antisemitism and Islamophobia we see today have no place in our society.
This is why I speak out so often. I’ve sat in schools, mosques, synagogues and churches, working with communities to make sense of events and find a way forward together.
I know what it takes to build trust between communities, and how fragile that trust can be.
We must not allow those who seek to divide us to destroy what we worked so hard to build ❤️

ALT We welcome the Labour Government’s announcements on extending Awaab’s Law to enhance protections in the Private Rented Sector. We will be pushing the Government to ensure the new protections cover temporary accommodation for homeless households, accommodation for young people leaving care leavers and supported housing, as part of the ongoing consultation. Every resident in Haringey, regardless of their tenure, should be protected from dangerous damp and mould in their homes.

It was a privilege to attend the 2026 Labour Party Conference in Liverpool and catch up with friends and colleagues from across the Labour movement.
This year’s conference marked an important moment under the new leadership of Prime Minister Andy Burnham, with a renewed focus on hope, unity and delivering meaningful change across the United Kingdom.
It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on Labour’s record in government, hear plans for the future, contribute to important discussions and strengthen relationships across our movement.
There is much more to do, but with unity, ambition and purpose, we can continue working towards a fairer, stronger and more prosperous country.
