"Why does the opposition walk out instead of debating in the parliament?" Glad you asked 🧵 1. One of the biggest tricks govt keeps playing is to say “we will debate on anything”, but under Rule 176, as opposed to the Opposition demand for Rule 267...

In 1997, this man was the ABVP National Secretary and was just about to join the Bharatiya Janata Party. There was a paper leak in Odisha and there was a major protest. This man participated in them. He was beaten by the police. "We staged a protest against the Odisha government, in front of the secretariat. Around 1,500 students joined us there. While the protest was peaceful, the police charged against the activists. He was badly beaten up at that time. He had a few fractures too." Who is he? Mr Dharmendra Pradhan. Imagine that Dharmendra Pradhan was protesting against paper leaks in 1997 and was beaten! There is an amazing Indian Express article about him. Linked below. The irony? One of the interviewees says: "under Pradhan's regime, the students will have more scope for dissent. "It is natural for students to be anti-establishment."

If this hasn’t been done, can someone present at the Protest Ground open a Collection Point slightly outside where Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto etc can deliver and share the full address? People from anywhere can send food and essential supplies and any participant can pick up anything

Undekhi is the kind of show that should have broken the internet. And that’s the most Indian OTT tragedy I can think of. No major marketing. No hype. You just stumble onto it on SonyLIV and become completely obsessed. Loved Season 4. Absolutely didn’t see this coming… the moral tables have flipped. The antagonists have become protagonists. And I’m fully empathising. One moment for Papaji though. Easily one of the most repulsive characters ever written for Indian television. Entitled, monstrous. Harsh Chhaya plays him so well it gets uncomfortable to watch. If this were on Netflix it would be in every conversation about world-class crime drama. It’s not. So I’m telling you instead. Go watch Undekhi. All seasons. You’re welcome.

It’s highly unusual for me to post a video review a whole week after a film’s release. But Jeejivisha Kale’s TIGHEE compelled me to make the exception. Here’s a snippet. Linking complete review below ⬇️

Grateful to our Paediatric Oncology team for making this happen: one of our children with an incurable cancer had two last wishes: meet MS Dhoni, and ride a @Lamborghini. Today, we could make one of these happen. If any of you have contacts with MSD, pls connect us.

He wrote poetry, fought injustice, tigers & lions, sang soulful songs, caught bullets, wore suits & togas, played pranks, got drunk & acted goofy, got angry & gave grave threats. Dharmendra was the closest we had to a complete star. Ode to this forever fav deccanherald.com/entertainme…

Update on ‘Agra’, the film: We’re being denied shows because of the so called ‘big blockbusters’ and because small films ‘don’t fit into’ multiplex chain programming. It’s up to you the audience now! Speak up and tag the chains. Say that you want to see the film!

“अपने ही पानी में पिघल जाना बर्फ का मुक़द्दर होता है” #Homebound has travelled across festivals around the world but its true identity lies in its return—its homebound journey back to the motherland. And for me, it means a long arduous wait over a decade to put out a second film. Ten years of one battle after another with my own self (Cheers, PTA!). Today, it finally releases in theatres. And now it belongs to you as much it ever did to us. Don’t pay heed to rumours. Please go watch #Homebound in theatres only. It’s a story meant to be experienced together - a reflection of our collective humanity. Maybe you will find something in it that you’ve lost along the way.

Saw some posts by @somenmishra0 recently comparing the lives of Guru Dutt and Vincent van Gogh and how Pyaasa might have been a tribute to Van Gogh. It got me wondering... What if Guru Dutt had actually directed a biopic inspired by Van Gogh’s life? #gurudutt #vinectvangogh #starynight @midjourney @Kling_ai

Just saw #Maa but review comes tomorrow. All I can say today is that I am mesmerized by @itsKajolD in #MAA She carries the film on her shoulders. Kajol is the most powerful actress in India today who can breathe fire into a scene with just a look or expression. And her eyes emote. 🔥 Kajol is BRILLIANT in & as Maa.
