claude code 2.1.319 fixed mcp servers on the older handshake failing to connect or coming back empty the servers were fine. the break was in how one agent greeted them so when a tool vanishes, the first question is: the server, or this agent? mcpock does the handshake on its own, so a green dot there next to "failed" in /mcp points at the agent (free, open source, macOS 26: github.com/aka-kika/mcpock)

asked an agent to read my other agent's whole day and tell me how we could work better it counted 266 questions that agent asked me. 126 of them had its own answer written inside the question so almost half the time it was just waiting for me to agree we've all had that coworker

Claude Code 2.1.311 fixed /mcp saying "authenticated" for remote servers it sends no credentials to, and "failed" for ones that need no sign-in at all so the status screen was showing what the agent believed, not what the server said my menu bar check does its own handshake from outside, so a server that wants a sign-in shows as a ring before a task trips on it. that's mcpock (open source: github.com/aka-kika/mcpock)
