Canton's institutional adoption is real. But who captures the value: those rewarded with $CC or those buying it?
SEC filings. Real numbers. Uncomfortable questions.
LOVE THE NETWORK. AUDIT THE TOKEN.
Three questions for @CantonNetwork, @YuvalRooz , @ShaulKfir and Canton governance:
Will you publish independently reproducible data on $CC rewards, locks, unlocks and potentially liquid supply?
How much additional NET burning will Universal Burn actually generate after rewards and discounts?
What measurable evidence will demonstrate sustainable value accrual for $CC holders?
Canton's institutional adoption deserves recognition.
Its tokenomics deserve the same level of transparency.

WHO GETS THE GOLDEN EGGS? 🪿🥚
Canton's institutional adoption is real. But who captures the value: those rewarded with $CC or those buying it?
SEC filings. Real numbers. Uncomfortable questions.
LOVE THE NETWORK. AUDIT THE TOKEN.
BEFORE DEFENDING $CC TOKENOMICS, LET'S GET FIVE THINGS STRAIGHT.
1. “Wallets are not individual owners.”
Correct. One wallet may represent thousands of customers, and one entity may control multiple wallets. That's why we need concentration data at the beneficial-owner level, not definitive conclusions drawn solely from wallet rankings.
2. “Liquid float is not the same as future supply.”
Correct. We must distinguish liquid float, locked CC, unlock schedules, newly minted rewards, and net issuance. Without that breakdown, we cannot reliably estimate potentially liquid supply.
3. “Super Validators went from 80% to 20% of rewards.”
Correct. But that describes the distribution of NEW issuance. Previously accumulated CC does not disappear or automatically get redistributed.
4. “CC is locked.”
Some of it, yes. But LOCKING IS NOT BURNING. Locking restricts token availability; it does not destroy tokens.
Broadridge disclosed to the SEC that it began converting Canton Coin into cash shortly after receiving it and continued doing so periodically during part of fiscal 2026, while also holding a substantial amount of restricted CC.
5. “Canton is still too young.”
Its age may explain early incentives and initial concentration. It does not demonstrate that those incentives are already producing sustainable net value accrual for CC holders.
NOW, LET'S LOOK AT THE NUMBERS.
October 23 snapshot · rolling 30 days:
🪙 680.14M CC minted
🔥 439.99M CC burned
📈 +240.15M CC net issuance
This does NOT prove equivalent token sales or automatic selling pressure.
But it does prove that more CC was minted than burned during that period.
Nobody is denying Canton's real institutional adoption.
The question is not whether network operators deserve rewards.
What we're demanding is measurable evidence of how much economic value $CC actually captures after accounting for issuance, burns, rewards, locks, unlocks, discounts, and potentially liquid supply.
Explaining the past is not the same as demonstrating future sustainability.
THE NETWORK CAN BECOME AN EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS WITHOUT GUARANTEEING THE SAME OUTCOME FOR THOSE WHO BUY THE TOKEN.
LOVE THE NETWORK. AUDIT THE TOKEN.
🚨 FRIDAY $CC WATCH | OCTOBER 23, 2026
🔥 UNIVERSAL BURN HAS RECEIVED A FAVORABLE VOTE.
🏛️ DTCC IS MOVING TOWARD LAUNCH.
🏦 CANTON ALREADY HAS REAL INSTITUTIONAL TRANSACTIONS.
TWO PROOFS DELIVERED. THE THIRD IS STILL MISSING.
✅ 1. INSTITUTIONAL ADOPTION
Derivnex, DRW and Marex completed a real institutional OTC financial transaction on Canton.
✅ 2. GOVERNANCE DECISION
Universal Burn (CIP-0129) received a favorable vote, publicly announced by Yuval Rooz.
❓ 3. ECONOMIC VALUE CAPTURE FOR $CC
How much of that institutional activity actually generates CC burn and improves net token supply?
Here is the distinction every investor should understand:
A TRANSACTION DOES NOT PROVE A FEE.
A FEE DOES NOT PROVE A BURN.
A BURN DOES NOT PROVE NET VALUE CAPTURE.
📊 OCTOBER 16 — ROLLING 30 DAYS:
🔥 440.58M CC burned.
🪙 695.43M CC minted.
📈 +254.85M CC in net issuance.
📊 OCTOBER 23 — ROLLING 30 DAYS:
💵 $51.90M in fees paid.
🔥 439.99M CC burned.
🪙 680.14M CC minted.
📈 +240.15M CC in net issuance.
⚖️ Burn/mint ratio: 64.7%.
Net issuance declined by 14.70M CC compared with October 16.
THE BALANCE IS IMPROVING. BUT SUPPLY IS STILL GROWING.
Universal Burn could change this equation.
But approving a reform does not mean activating it.
And burning more CC does not mean reducing supply if more tokens are still being minted than destroyed.
CANTON IS DEMONSTRATING ADOPTION.
NOW $CC MUST DEMONSTRATE ECONOMIC VALUE CAPTURE.
I won’t change my model because of headlines.
I’LL CHANGE IT WHEN THE DATA CHANGES.
🧵👇

🔥 2/3 — UNIVERSAL BURN & DTCC: THE CATALYSTS WE MUST WATCH
🔥 UNIVERSAL BURN — CIP-0129
On October 21, Yuval Rooz publicly announced that the vote had passed.
Why does it matter?
Because Canton aims to connect production traffic from dedicated synchronizers to the shared $CC economic model.
Until now, some of that activity could remain outside the common burn mechanism.
THIS COULD CHANGE.
But we still need evidence of:
💻 Technical implementation.
🌐 MainNet activation.
💵 Effective traffic pricing.
📉 Applied discounts.
🔥 Verifiable incremental burn.
🪙 Attributable rewards and issuance.
The design includes volume discounts, traffic commitments and CC collateral requirements.
MORE ACTIVITY DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN PROPORTIONALLY MORE BURN.
Approval is a milestone.
ACTUAL BURN WILL BE THE TEST.
🏛️ DTCC — INSTITUTIONAL TOKENIZATION
DTCC has identified Canton and Besu among the initial networks planned for its tokenization service.
October appears in its announced launch roadmap.
Reports on the initial scope refer to approximately 25 securities and $30 trillion in potentially eligible assets. These specific figures still require independent confirmation against primary documentation.
But:
$30 TRILLION ELIGIBLE DOES NOT MEAN $30 TRILLION TOKENIZED.
TOKENIZED ASSETS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY GENERATE TRAFFIC ON CANTON.
TRAFFIC ON CANTON DOES NOT GUARANTEE POSITIVE NET ECONOMIC CAPTURE FOR $CC.
🏦 DERIVNEX / DRW / MAREX
On October 13, a completed OTC total return swap on Canton was announced.
It referenced an S&P Dow Jones Indices iBoxx index tokenized through Kaiko.
This was not merely a commercial agreement.
IT WAS A CONCRETE INSTITUTIONAL TRANSACTION.
And on October 22, Derivnex announced that its platform was live on Canton.
That is an important step beyond the initial transaction.
A live platform could support recurring activity throughout the derivatives lifecycle.
But operational availability does not prove recurring volumes.
We still need to know:
• Which synchronizer was used.
• Billable traffic.
• Fees actually paid.
• CC burned.
• Attributable rewards and issuance.
• Net supply contribution.
🏛️ TEMPLE DIGITAL GROUP + tZERO
On October 22, tZERO announced that Temple had selected it to provide regulated broker-dealer and alternative trading system (ATS) infrastructure for its tokenized securities platform on Canton.
Implementation of that specific regulated platform remains pending.
Temple has also launched Temple RFQ, its institutional request-for-quote platform.
Institutional cash RFQ is available.
Fixed-income and repo markets are expected to follow as the required assets and counterparties become available.
This connects several important components:
• Institutional trading.
• Tokenized assets.
• Regulated market infrastructure.
• Financing and repos.
• Settlement infrastructure.
And here is another significant figure:
tZERO states that Temple has executed more than $1.6B in volume on Canton.
That is a company-reported figure, not an independently audited measurement of CC fees or burn.
$1.6B IN TRADING VOLUME DOES NOT MEAN $1.6B IN FEES.
TRADING VOLUME ≠ FEES PAID.
FEES PAID ≠ NET TOKEN VALUE CAPTURE.
A regulated platform does not automatically guarantee economic value capture for $CC.
INSTITUTIONAL ADOPTION IS NOW DEMONSTRATED IN CONCRETE CASES.
ECONOMIC VALUE CAPTURE STILL NEEDS TO BE QUANTIFIED.
👇 3/3 — GOVERNANCE & THE DEFINITIVE QUESTION
🤖 Made with AI
⚖️ 3/3 — THE QUESTION CANTON MUST ANSWER
Attracting banks is not enough.
Approving proposals is not enough.
Announcing trillions of dollars in potentially eligible assets is not enough.
WE NEED TO PROVE HOW MUCH OF THAT ACTIVITY ECONOMICALLY BENEFITS $CC.
🔐 CIP-0127 — CC LOCKUPS
This proposal describes mechanisms to automate enforcement of locking obligations for Super Validators and Featured Applications.
It could improve discipline and verifiability.
But a published CIP does not mean it has already been activated.
And locked CC does not automatically represent a new reduction in liquid tradable supply.
🗳️ GOVERNANCE
We also need transparency on:
• Who controls Super Validator voting power.
• Who can change fees and discounts.
• How rewards are distributed.
• When CC becomes unlocked.
• What the genuinely tradable supply is.
COUNTING VALIDATORS IS NOT THE SAME AS MEASURING WHO CONTROLS THE RULES.
🔥 A QUESTION FOR CANTON, YUVAL ROOZ & SHAUL KFIR
Once Universal Burn is activated, will you regularly publish aggregated, verifiable data on:
💵 Effective fees.
📉 Applied discounts.
🌐 Dedicated synchronizer traffic.
🔥 Attributable CC burned.
🪙 Incremental rewards and minting.
🔐 CC committed as collateral and locked.
⚖️ Net contribution to token supply?
And will you clearly identify any overlap between collateral and locked CC to avoid double counting?
We are not asking for confidential commercial data.
WE ARE ASKING FOR ECONOMIC ACCOUNTABILITY.
Because Canton already has concrete evidence of institutional use.
Universal Burn has a publicly announced favorable vote.
Now we need the third proof:
MEASURABLE ECONOMIC RESULTS FOR $CC.
No tribalism.
No personal attacks.
No blind euphoria.
DATA. EVIDENCE. RESULTS.
Canton could build the financial infrastructure of the future.
BUT $CC STILL NEEDS TO PROVE HOW MUCH VALUE IT CAPTURES FROM IT.
I won’t change my model because of headlines.
I’LL CHANGE IT WHEN THE DATA CHANGES.
@CantonNetwork @YuvalRooz @ShaulKfir

🚨 FRIDAY $CC WATCH | OCTOBER 16, 2026
MORE USD FEES. LESS CC BURNED. NET SUPPLY STILL RISING.
Canton is recording more paid traffic fees.
Yet it is burning fewer CC than it was three weeks ago.
And over the last 30 days, 254.85 million more CC were minted than burned.
This isn’t narrative.
It’s the economic ledger every $CC investor should understand.
📊 CANTON SNAPSHOT — 30 DAYS
🌐 30.1M transactions
🔒 22.9M private (76.1%)
💵 $52.23M in paid traffic fees
🔥 440.58M CC burned
🪙 695.43M CC minted
📈 +254.85M CC net issuance
⚖️ Burn/Mint: 63.4%
🌐 870.5 GB of paid traffic
🔐 ~39.85B CC reported circulating supply at snapshot
For every 100 CC minted, only about 63 are burned.
Canton is generating real economic activity.
But $CC net supply continues to expand.
📉 WHAT HAS CHANGED SINCE SEPTEMBER 25?
💵 Fees: $48.94M → $52.23M (+6.7%)
🔥 Burn: 460.94M → 440.58M CC (−4.4%)
🪙 Mint: 719.84M → 695.43M CC (−3.4%)
📈 Net issuance: +258.90M → +254.85M CC (−1.6%)
⚖️ Burn/Mint: 64.0% → 63.4% (−0.6 percentage points)
More USD fees have not translated into more CC burned.
And although minting has also declined, net issuance has barely decreased.
⚠️ This compares two rolling 30-day windows separated by 21 days, with approximately nine overlapping days. These are not independent periods.
❓ HOW CAN TRAFFIC FEES RISE 6.7% WHILE CC BURNED FALLS 4.4%?
Because USD fees, CC burned and CC minted are different dimensions of the same economy.
More fees paid in dollars do not automatically mean more CC units destroyed.
And more CC burned does not necessarily mean lower net supply.
The complete equation is:
Paid activity → USD fees → CC burned → CC minted/rewarded → net issuance → liquid float.
That’s the equation that matters.
Not just fees.
Not just burn.
Not just institutional headlines.
The complete equation.
And this week, a recent signal deserves attention.

👇 REPLY 1/3 — WHAT THE LAST SEVEN DAYS TELL US
🤖 Made with AI
🏦 2/3 — CANTON IS ADVANCING INSTITUTIONALLY. HOW MUCH DOES $CC CAPTURE?
OCTOBER 13 — DERIVNEX / DRW / MAREX
An OTC total return swap was announced as executed on Canton, referencing an S&P Dow Jones Indices iBoxx index tokenized through Kaiko.
This is not a promise of future adoption.
It is a real institutional financial transaction.
But essential data are still missing to measure its direct impact on $CC:
Trade notional.
Synchronizer used.
Billable traffic generated.
Incremental USD fees.
Attributable CC burned.
Incremental rewards or mint.
Net Economic Contribution.
THE ADOPTION IS REAL.
THE SPECIFIC ECONOMIC VALUE CAPTURE FOR $CC HAS NOT YET BEEN QUANTIFIED.
🏛️ BROADRIDGE AND OTHER INSTITUTIONAL WORKFLOWS
They represent meaningful opportunities for future economic activity.
But that opportunity does not automatically equal:
Billable traffic → USD fees → CC burned → mint/rewards → Net Economic Contribution.
⚙️ UNIVERSAL BURN / ONE ECONOMY
These initiatives could transform the connection between Dedicated Synchronizers and the shared $CC economy.
But:
📄 Draft ≠ approval.
💻 Development ≠ MainNet activation.
🔥 Incremental burn ≠ positive Net Economic Contribution.
The CantonBFT migration and Super Validator governance proposals also deserve close monitoring.
We should not value technical capacity, development progress or future potential as realized token economics.
The question is not how many institutions appear in the headlines.
The question is how much additional economic value actually reaches $CC.
👇 REPLY 3/3 — GOVERNANCE, DISTRIBUTION AND LIQUID FLOAT
🤖 Made with AI
🗳️ 3/3 — WHO REALLY CONTROLS CANTON’S RULES?
A recent debate has raised a fundamental question again:
How do we demonstrate that institutional financial infrastructure provides sufficient operational independence, censorship resistance, governance transparency and genuine distribution of power?
It is not enough for a network to describe itself as decentralized.
The distribution of power must be auditable.
The number of nodes or validators does not automatically equal a genuine distribution of decision-making power.
To assess that distribution, we need to examine:
• Super Validator voting weights.
• Approval thresholds and quorums.
• Concentration of voting rights.
• Economically related entities.
• Reward distribution.
• Veto and control mechanisms.
Counting infrastructure is not enough.
WE MUST MEASURE WHO CAN CHANGE THE RULES.
🔐 THE OTHER MAJOR FACTOR: LOCKED SUPPLY AND REAL LIQUID FLOAT
According to CC Space:
🪙 Reported circulating supply: ~39.85B CC
🔒 Locked CC: ~19.49B
📊 Locked percentage: 49%
Approximate breakdown:
🏛️ Super Validators: 18.32B CC
🧩 Featured Apps: 1.17B CC
But remember:
LOCKED SUPPLY ≠ LIQUID FLOAT.
And unlocked supply does not necessarily mean that all those CC are immediately available for sale on exchanges.
We need transparency on lock conditions, release schedules, beneficial ownership, economic concentration and reward distribution.
Meanwhile, the last 30 days show:
+254.85M CC IN NET ISSUANCE.
That is why we must answer four questions:
1️⃣ Is Canton demonstrating institutional adoption?
Yes. Real transactions and use cases exist.
2️⃣ Is paid economic activity increasing?
USD traffic fees increased 6.7% compared with our September 25 snapshot.
3️⃣ Is $CC capturing enough value to overcome issuance?
NOT YET.
4️⃣ Can we measure governance, economic distribution and real liquid float with sufficient transparency?
Important questions remain unresolved.
Institutional adoption matters.
Paid fees matter.
Burn matters.
Mint matters.
Locking matters.
Liquid float matters.
And who controls the rules connecting all those variables matters too.
My thesis is not that Canton will fail.
On the contrary, it could become fundamental infrastructure for tokenized financial markets.
But infrastructure success and token economic success are two different milestones.
I will not change my model because of a headline.
I will change it when the data change.
CANTON IS PROVING INSTITUTIONAL ADOPTION.
$CC STILL HAS TO PROVE THAT ADOPTION PAYS THE TOKEN.
Fees measure activity.
Burn measures token destruction.
Net Economic Contribution is the thesis.
@CantonNetwork @YuvalRooz @ShaulKfir
❓ What specific evidence would change YOUR $CC valuation?

🚨 CANTON MAY BE WINNING THE INFRASTRUCTURE RACE.
BUT $CC STILL HAS TO PROVE IT CAN WIN THE ECONOMIC RACE.
IT’S TIME FOR SOME UNCOMFORTABLE TRUTHS. 🔥🚰
For months, holders were asked to price in unproven value capture.
Banks. DTCC. Privacy. Atomic settlement. Tokenized assets.
EXTRAORDINARY INFRASTRUCTURE.
But the question remains:
HOW MUCH OF THAT SUCCESS IS $CC ACTUALLY CAPTURING?
Yet we still see:
🚰 Mint exceeding burn.
🔥 Activity outside the common CC burn mechanism.
💵 Huge volumes without proportional fees.
⚖️ Growing net supply despite burn.
🔓 Rewards and unlocks affecting liquidity.
Critics were told:
“You don’t understand Canton.”
“Fees are all that matter.”
“BME doesn’t matter.”
“Growth will solve everything.”
SO WHAT CHANGED?
⸻
1️⃣ THE REFORMS TELL A STORY.
CIP-0096: approved to phase out validator liveness rewards.
CIP-0104: approved to link app rewards to real traffic, but its August economic activation was postponed.
CIP-0120: proposed to reward validator activity.
And now comes UNIVERSAL BURN.
Its draft acknowledges that Dedicated Synchronizers paid licensing fees to Digital Asset, outside the common CC burn economy.
That’s the disconnect we’ve questioned for months.
Did our criticism cause these reforms? I’M NOT CLAIMING THAT.
Do they prove bad faith? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
But these issues warranted reforms.
A REFORM DOESN’T PROVE BAD FAITH.
BUT IT DOESN’T ERASE THE PROBLEM IT WAS DESIGNED TO ADDRESS.
IT WAS ABOUT DEMANDING BETTER ECONOMICS FOR $CC.
⸻
2️⃣ UNIVERSAL BURN: GREAT PROPOSAL. NOT YET A RESULT.
Phase targets: Q1 2027 and Q3 2027. Not guaranteed.
The CIP remains a DRAFT, not approved or live on MainNet.
It proposes bringing Dedicated Synchronizer production traffic into CC burn.
But it also includes:
▪️ Volume and commitment discounts.
▪️ CC locked as collateral.
▪️ App and validator rewards.
▪️ Governance-controlled parameters.
Crucially:
IT DOES NOT ITSELF REDUCE CC ISSUANCE.
Traffic, fees, burn and rewards must be auditable without exposing institutional data.
The path is:
DRAFT → GOVERNANCE → IMPLEMENTATION → MAINNET → DATA → NET ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTION.
A ROADMAP IS NOT BURN.
A DRAFT IS NOT MAINNET.
ACTIVATION ALONE DOESN’T PROVE NET VALUE CAPTURE.
⸻
3️⃣ IS BURN-MINT EQUILIBRIUM UNTOUCHABLE?
Canton’s fees are USD-denominated.
As $CC appreciates, the same fees burn fewer tokens.
That does NOT impose a price ceiling. CC can rise even when BME is below 1.
But issuance matters:
ACTUAL MINT − ACTUAL BURN = NET TOTAL SUPPLY CHANGE.
Why not improve how CC captures institutional growth?
Lower actual issuance.
More efficient incentives.
More activity contributing to burn.
Stronger structural demand for CC.
Without sacrificing Canton’s competitiveness or stability.
WE’RE NOT ASKING TO ABOLISH ECONOMIC REALITY.
WE’RE ASKING WHETHER THE CURRENT DESIGN IS THE BEST POSSIBLE.
⸻
4️⃣ GOVERNANCE SETS THE TIMETABLE. HOLDERS SET THE STANDARD OF EVIDENCE.
Holding CC alone doesn’t grant an automatic vote on Super Validator decisions affecting issuance, rewards, discounts or timing.
But we can insist:
WE WILL NOT TREAT FUTURE PROMISES AS REALIZED VALUE CAPTURE.
Future potential isn’t proven value.
We want transparency on rewards, issuance and actual $CC value capture—not guaranteed profits.
Institutional infrastructure moves at one speed; token economics at another.
Retail holders bear investment risk without an automatic direct vote on those decisions.
I’M NOT ALLEGING MANIPULATION.
I’M QUESTIONING A REAL ASYMMETRY IN DECISION-MAKING POWER.
I SUPPORT CANTON. BUT:
CONVICTION IS NOT OBEDIENCE.
NOW COME THE QUESTIONS THAT MATTER. 👇
5️⃣ WHAT WOULD I CHANGE ABOUT CANTON? 🔥
✅ Explore lower actual issuance without harming essential incentives.
✅ Activate Universal Burn as soon as it’s technically safe.
✅ Publish fees, burn and rewards by synchronizer while protecting privacy.
✅ Disclose locked CC, unlocks and liquid supply.
✅ Reassess the balance between BME, stability and value capture.
✅ Give holders more transparency and a stronger voice.
I’M NOT ASKING FOR AN ARTIFICIAL PRICE PUMP. I’M ASKING FOR BETTER TOKENOMICS.
⸻
6️⃣ I KNOW WHAT SOME WILL SAY.
“Other networks are worse.”
“Every network has inflation.”
“The market already prices in the future.”
BUT WE’RE ANALYZING CANTON.
If we price in future burn, we must also consider future issuance and unlocks.
When the data improves, we’ll say so. When it worsens, we’ll say that too.
⸻
7️⃣ ACCOUNTING, NOT HEADLINES.
💵 Effective USD fees.
🔥 CC actually burned.
🚰 CC actually minted.
⚖️ Net supply change.
🔓 Unlocks and liquid supply.
🏛️ Traffic, fees and burn by Dedicated Synchronizer.
📊 Incremental contribution, distinguishing new mint from redistributed rewards.
NOTIONAL ≠ TRAFFIC ≠ FEES ≠ BURN ≠ NET VALUE CAPTURE.
⸻
8️⃣ QUESTIONS FOR @YuvalRooz, @ShaulKfir AND @CantonNetwork. 🎯
Could BME, issuance and incentives evolve so $CC captures more net value without losing competitiveness?
Are earlier cuts to actual mint or reward adjustments tied to real utility being considered?
When will we see an auditable dashboard by Dedicated Synchronizer: USD fees, discounts, burn, rewards, locked CC and net contribution?
Which technical and governance milestones remain before Universal Burn goes live? Can we track them publicly?
How will traffic, fees, burn, rewards and incremental mint be independently reconciled while protecting privacy?
How can holders without direct voting rights contribute and review the economic impact of reforms?
AND THE CENTRAL QUESTION:
WHEN WILL REAL DATA SHOW THAT CANTON’S INSTITUTIONAL SUCCESS DELIVERS MEANINGFUL NET VALUE CAPTURE FOR $CC?
No price promises. WE WANT EVIDENCE.
A GREAT NETWORK DOESN’T GUARANTEE A GREAT TOKEN.
A DRAFT IS NOT MAINNET.
A ROADMAP IS NOT VALUE CAPTURE.
CONVICTION IS NOT OBEDIENCE.
CANTON CAN WIN THE INFRASTRUCTURE RACE.
$CC MUST PROVE IT CAN WIN THE ECONOMIC RACE.
GOVERNANCE SETS THE TIMETABLE.
HOLDERS SET THE STANDARD OF EVIDENCE.
LET THE DATA SPEAK. 🔥🚰

🚨 FRIDAY $CC WATCH | OCTOBER 9, 2026
Apologies for the late edition! It’s already Saturday, but I wanted to get the numbers right. Hope you enjoy it! 🔥
📅 Snapshot: Oct 10, 2026, 20:25 CEST.
FEWER TRANSACTIONS. MORE FEES.
ALMOST FLAT BURN. LESS MINT.
STILL NET INFLATION.
And Universal Burn is now a formal draft.
📊 30-DAY SNAPSHOT
🌐 32.2M transactions
▪️ 25.0M private (77.5%)
▪️ 7.2M public (22.5%)
💵 PAID NETWORK TRAFFIC
▪️ $51.44M fees / 30D
▪️ ≈ $1.71M/day calculated average
▪️ $1.84M on Friday, Oct 9
▪️ 857.3 GB traffic (CC Space)
▪️ Traffic price: $0.060/KB
🔥 450.99M CC burned
🪙 701.53M CC minted
⚖️ +250.54M NET NEW CC
Burn/Mint: 64.3%
Mint/Burn: 1.56×
Burn offsets about 64% of newly minted CC. Net supply is still rising, although the balance has improved.
📊 VS. PREVIOUS WATCH
⚠️ Both figures are rolling 30-day windows taken eight days apart, overlapping by 22 days (73.3%). These are not independent monthly samples.
🌐 Transactions: 34.3M → 32.2M (−6.1%)
💵 Fees: $48.9M → $51.44M (+5.2%)
🔥 Burn: 450.36M → 450.99M (+0.14%)
🪙 Mint: 724.04M → 701.53M (−3.1%)
⚖️ Net issuance: +273.68M → +250.54M CC (−8.5%)
🔥 Burn/Mint: 62.2% → 64.3% (+2.1 pp)
💲 Traffic price: $0.064 → $0.060/KB (−6.25%)
1️⃣ LESS MINT IS DRIVING THE IMPROVEMENT.
Mint fell 22.51M CC; burn rose only 0.63M CC.
That explains the 23.14M reduction in net new CC over the rolling window.
This is why burn must always be analyzed alongside mint.
2️⃣ MORE USD FEES, ALMOST NO ADDITIONAL CC BURN.
Fees increased 5.2%, but burn only 0.14%.
Aggregate CC burned per $1 in fees fell:
9.21 CC/$ → 8.77 CC/$ (≈ −4.8%).
This is a diagnostic ratio, not a verified CC/USD conversion rate. Conversion prices, accounting windows, traffic composition and fee scope still require examination.
MORE USD FEES ≠ PROPORTIONALLY MORE CC BURN.
🔎 DAILY TRAFFIC BURN
🔥 450.88M CC burned through traffic / 30D.
🔥 450.99M CC burned in total.
≈ 99.98% of recorded burn comes from traffic.
Daily burn has recovered from late-September lows, but that does not yet establish sustained structural acceleration. The longer-term trend since February remains important.
🧭 UNIVERSAL BURN: THE BIG DEVELOPMENT
A formal draft, “Universal Burn and Synchronizer Pricing,” by Yiannis Varelas and Shaul Kfir, proposes extending CC burn to production traffic on Dedicated Synchronizers.
That could broaden the activity contributing to CC destruction.
But it is:
⚠️ DRAFT — NOT APPROVED.
⚠️ NOT LIVE.
⚠️ NET IMPACT UNPROVEN.
Crucially, the draft notes that most CC burned through this activity may be re-minted as rewards to app operators and validators.
It also proposes keeping the existing emission schedule and reward allocation unchanged.
So we must distinguish additional burn, genuinely incremental mint and redistribution of already scheduled rewards. Never double-count.
MORE GROSS BURN ≠ EQUIVALENT NET SUPPLY REDUCTION.
📊 WEEKLY VERDICT
🟢 Institutional infrastructure: progressing.
🟢 USD fees: increasing.
🟢 Burn/Mint: improving.
🟠 Net supply: still expanding.
🟡 Universal Burn: potentially important, still a draft.
$CC’s net supply balance improved modestly but remains inflationary over this rolling 30-day window.
Canton may be building extraordinary financial infrastructure. The question is how much of that growth translates into verifiable economic value capture for $CC.
👇 Three critical questions in the replies.
GROSS BURN IS A METRIC.
NET CONTRIBUTION IS THE THESIS.
$CC #CantonNetwork #Tokenomics
🤖 Made with AI
👀 2/3 — DTCC, THE $100T+ MARKET, AND THE STANDARD OF EVIDENCE.
Institutional adoption remains one of Canton Network’s strongest arguments.
But we must preserve a fundamental distinction.
MARKET SIZE ≠ ACTUAL ACTIVITY ON CANTON.
ACTUAL ACTIVITY ≠ FEES PAID.
FEES PAID ≠ NET REDUCTION IN CC SUPPLY.
We have been following references associated with Yuval Rooz to activity connected to a market exceeding $100 trillion.
The potential opportunity is enormous.
However, at the time of preparing this Watch, I have not been able to independently verify a specific first transaction with enough publicly available detail to incorporate it into our economic model.
That does not mean the transaction does not exist.
It does not mean the activity is not coming.
It means:
I AM NOT COUNTING IT AS A VERIFIED EVENT YET.
And we should not automatically equate those references with DTCC.
🏦 DTCC
DTCC has publicly communicated meaningful progress toward tokenizing DTC-custodied assets and a commercial service targeted for October.
Its infrastructure represents an enormous institutional opportunity.
But we do not yet have sufficient public attribution of:
▪️ Canton traffic generated by that service.
▪️ Fees actually paid.
▪️ The synchronizer used for each transaction.
▪️ CC burned as a direct result.
▪️ Incremental contribution to CC’s net supply dynamics.
The value of assets held in DTC custody is not the same as the value already tokenized.
And tokenized notional value is not automatically revenue for $CC.
The evidence chain we need is:
REAL ACTIVITY
↓
BILLABLE TRAFFIC
↓
ACTUAL FEES IN USD
↓
CC BURNED
↓
ACTUAL MINT / REWARDS
↓
NET SUPPLY CHANGE
And then:
CC DEMAND, LOCKING AND LIQUIDITY.
I am not questioning Canton’s institutional adoption.
I am separating two different questions.
IS THE NETWORK GROWING?
And:
HOW MUCH ECONOMIC VALUE DOES $CC ACTUALLY CAPTURE FROM THAT GROWTH?
When verifiable institutional transactions emerge, I want to know the asset, synchronizer, traffic, fees, and attributable burn.
I will not convert the notional size of a market into protocol revenue.
Nor will I convert protocol revenue into net supply reduction without accounting for mint.

⚠️ 3/3 — THE OTHER HALF OF THE EQUATION: WHO RECEIVES THE MINT?
Universal Burn could expand the sources of CC destruction.
But it does not automatically resolve every question about tokenomics.
Because Canton’s token economy has two fundamental flows:
🔥 CC destroyed.
🪙 CC created.
And both must be auditable.
🧭 PR #273 — SV WEIGHTS ON-LEDGER
We are following the proposal to bring Super Validator weights and related beneficiary information into a verifiable on-ledger structure.
Its potential importance is not generating more burn.
It is improving transparency around how rewards are determined and distributed.
But it remains a proposal.
It should not be presented as an already implemented governance change.
🧭 HOLDINGS-DENOMINATED CAPACITY RIGHTS
There is also an alternative draft proposing a different economic architecture:
LOCKED CC → DIRECT SYNCHRONIZER CAPACITY RIGHTS.
Rather than relying exclusively on the current combination of burn, rewards, and issuance.
It is an interesting structural alternative.
But it is not approved Canton tokenomics.
We must distinguish competing proposals from effective governance decisions.
Now return to this week’s actual numbers.
🔥 Burn: +0.14%
🪙 Mint: −3.1%
⚖️ Net issuance: −8.5%
The improvement did not primarily come from more burn.
IT CAME FROM LESS MINT.
That demonstrates exactly why both sides of the equation matter.
If burning CC matters because it reduces supply…
WHY SHOULD THE CREATION OF NEW CC MATTER ANY LESS?
Fees measure paid economic activity.
Burn measures tokens destroyed.
Mint measures tokens created.
Locking can temporarily restrict tradable supply.
But none of these metrics, in isolation, proves fair valuation or guarantees future price appreciation.
Even BME = 1 does not guarantee that $CC will rise.
Demand, liquidity, and incentives still matter.
📊 FINAL WEEKLY VERDICT
This week did not deliver an explosion in CC burn.
It delivered:
🟢 More fees in USD.
🟢 Lower CC minting.
🟢 A modest improvement in the net supply balance.
🟠 Net supply that is still increasing.
🟡 A Universal Burn draft that could expand future burning activity.
Now we need to demonstrate that any additional burn is:
ATTRIBUTABLE.
RECURRING.
ECONOMICALLY MEANINGFUL AFTER REWARDS, DISCOUNTS AND INCREMENTAL MINT.
I want Canton to succeed.
And I want $CC to capture part of that success.
But I will not confuse the two.
DON’T JUST SHOW US THE DRAIN.
SHOW US THE TAP. 🚰🔥
GROSS BURN IS A METRIC.
NET CONTRIBUTION IS THE THESIS.

🚨 THE IDEA IS SPREADING THAT CANTON’S FEES MATTER MORE THAN $CC’S BURN/MINT RATIO.
This is a fundamental economic question for every $CC holder.
An open discussion for @YuvalRooz, @ShaulKfir, @wesarn_real and @CantonNetwork.
We’re being shown mathematically correct charts.
We’re told that when $CC’s price rises, the same USD-denominated fees burn fewer CC.
And that’s true.
But one fundamental question is missing:
HOW MANY NEW CC ARE BEING CREATED AT THE SAME TIME?
Let’s use exactly the same mathematics to show the other half of the equation.
Not to deny that fees matter.
But to explain why:
FEES WITHOUT MINT DON’T EXPLAIN NET SUPPLY.
👇
⸻
1️⃣ FIRST, LET’S ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT’S TRUE.
If $100,000 in network fees are paid through CC burn:
▪️ CC at $0.10 → 1,000,000 CC burned.
▪️ CC at $1 → 100,000 CC burned.
Same fees.
Ten times fewer tokens burned.
Mathematically flawless.
But now ask yourself:
HOW MANY NEW CC WERE MINTED DURING THAT SAME PERIOD?
Because burning tokens doesn’t necessarily mean total supply is decreasing.
And that’s where the missing half begins.
⸻
2️⃣ THE BATHTUB: AN EXPLANATION EVERY HOLDER CAN UNDERSTAND. 🛁
Imagine Canton as a bathtub.
🚰 MINT: the faucet adding new tokens.
🔥 BURN: the drain permanently removing tokens.
If we only watch the water flowing down the drain…
Can we tell whether the bathtub is filling up or emptying?
NO.
We also need to know how much water is coming in.
The exact same principle applies to Canton.
NET SUPPLY CHANGE = ACTUAL CC MINTED − ACTUAL CC BURNED.
That’s the equation.
Fees matter.
Burn matters.
But mint matters too.
And if we want to understand the economic impact on $CC holders, we need to examine all three.
⸻
3️⃣ NOW LET’S FLIP THE CHART. 🔄
Canton’s issuance schedule provides for progressive reductions in maximum annual minting capacity:
📍 First stage: 10 billion CC.
📍 Second stage: 5 billion CC.
📍 Third stage: 2.5 billion CC.
The maximum issuance capacity declines. What we must always monitor is the amount actually minted.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: These are maximum issuance ceilings, NOT amounts automatically minted.
Now consider a purely hypothetical scenario.
Canton burns 7 billion CC annually.
And we assume actual minting equals the maximum allowed in each stage.
🔴 SCENARIO A
10B CC minted.
7B CC burned.
Result: +3B CC net supply change.
🟡 SCENARIO B
5B CC minted.
7B CC burned.
Result: −2B CC net supply change.
🟢 SCENARIO C
2.5B CC minted.
7B CC burned.
Result: −4.5B CC net supply change.
STOP HERE FOR A MOMENT.
Same activity.
Same fees.
Same assumed price.
Same burn.
ONLY ISSUANCE HAS CHANGED.
And we’ve gone from increasing supply to reducing it.
Without increasing fees by a single dollar.
Without requiring more transactions.
Without changing the assumed CC price.
CAN WE STILL CALL ISSUANCE SECONDARY?
⸻
4️⃣ NOW LET’S USE THE SAME MATHEMATICS TO UNDERSTAND THE PRICE RELATIONSHIP. 💰
Assume $700 million in annual network fees are paid through CC burn.
At what CC price would the implied annual burn equal the amount of CC we’re assuming is minted?
🔴 SCENARIO A: 10B CC minted
$700M ÷ 10B CC = $0.07
🟡 SCENARIO B: 5B CC minted
$700M ÷ 5B CC = $0.14
🟢 SCENARIO C: 2.5B CC minted
$700M ÷ 2.5B CC = $0.28
FEES HAVEN’T INCREASED BY A SINGLE DOLLAR!
Yet the reference level at which implied annual burn would equal assumed annual mint has increased FOURFOLD.
Why?
BECAUSE ISSUANCE IS ALSO PART OF THE EQUATION.
⚠️ These are mathematical reference points under specific assumptions. They are not market price forecasts or price targets.
The market can value CC above or below them.
But the mathematical relationship exists.
And we shouldn’t ignore it.

5️⃣ THE COMBINATION: MORE BURN + LESS MINT 🚀
So far, fees stayed constant. What if Universal Burn adds institutional activity, doubling fees paid through CC burn from $700M to $1.4B/year, while ACTUAL annual mint falls to 2.5B CC?
🔴 $700M ÷ 10B = $0.07
🟠 $700M ÷ 5B = $0.14
🟡 $700M ÷ 2.5B = $0.28
🟢 $1.4B ÷ 2.5B = $0.56
The hypothetical burn=mint equilibrium level would be 8× the initial reference. NOT an 8× market-price forecast: demand, liquidity and expectations also matter.
MORE BURN AND LESS MINT CAN REINFORCE EACH OTHER. Illustration, not a price target.
6️⃣ UNIVERSAL BURN: MEASURE, DON’T ASSUME. 🔥
The Universal Burn CIP remains DRAFT / CIP-TBD—not approved or active on MainNet. It proposes bringing Dedicated Synchronizers’ production traffic into CC payments and burn.
Results will depend on billable traffic, effective fees, discounts, incentives and rewards. We need to measure:
📈 Real activity
💵 Effective USD fees
🔥 CC actually burned
🚰 CC actually minted
⚖️ Mint − burn
🔒 Collateral-locked CC
🌊 Liquid supply
🏛️ Net contribution from synchronizers
Locked ≠ burned. Lower maximum issuance ≠ equal reduction in actual mint. This CIP does not itself reduce issuance.
7️⃣ THE LESSON FOR HOLDERS
CC may appreciate with BME below 1; BME = 1 doesn’t guarantee appreciation.
We want Canton to succeed: more adoption, fees and burn. But showing burn without mint gives investors an incomplete picture.
NETWORK SUCCESS ≠ AUTOMATIC TOKEN-HOLDER VALUE.
8️⃣ ONE DIRECT QUESTION 🎯
If burning CC matters because it reduces supply, why should minting new CC matter less when it increases supply?
Shouldn’t we evaluate Universal Burn and future issuance reductions TOGETHER, distinguishing maximum issuance from actual mint?
No price promises. Just the complete equation:
💵 FEES → 🔥 BURN
🚰 ACTUAL MINT − 🔥 BURN = ⚖️ NET SUPPLY CHANGE
🔥 FEES, BURN, ACTUAL MINT AND NET SUPPLY ALL MATTER.
DON’T JUST SHOW US THE DRAIN.
SHOW US THE FAUCET TOO. 🚰🔥
