The Most Powerful Women in Fantasy/sci-fi TV and Movie History! Here, power is defined by two things: possessing some sort of magical or supernatural abilities and wielding significant political influence. These women, alongside being powerful magic wielders, also occupy positions of extraordinary authority in their respective worlds. 1) Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat — The Wheel of Time The Amyrlin Seat is the supreme leader of the Aes Sedai, an influential order of women who wield the One Power in Robert Jordan's magnificent fantasy world. As an Aes Sedai, Siuan can channel the One Power to perform extraordinary feats of magic. But what makes her particularly formidable is her political authority. As the Amyrlin Seat, she commands the White Tower, one of the most powerful institutions in the Westlands. Her authority and influence extend far beyond the Aes Sedai, reaching the thrones of kings and queens, who are traditionally expected to show her deference. Siuan is my personal favourite on this list, and her portrayal in the television adaptation remains my favourite depiction of an Amyrlin Seat. 2) Reverend Mother Jessica — Dune Reverend Mothers occupy the highest ranks of the Bene Gesserit, a powerful sisterhood in Frank Herbert's science-fiction universe. They undergo extraordinarily rigorous physical and mental training, culminating in the dangerous ritual that transforms them into Reverend Mothers. Lady Jessica is one of the most prominent members of this order and the mother of Paul Atreides, who eventually becomes one of the most powerful rulers in the known universe. As a Reverend Mother, Jessica possesses extraordinary physical and mental discipline, heightened perception, and mastery of the Voice, which allows her to compel others through precisely controlled vocal commands. Her influence also extends into the political and religious affairs of the Imperium. 3) Diana Bishop, the Weaver — A Discovery of Witches Diana Bishop is the most magically powerful woman on this list. As a Weaver, she possesses the rare ability to create entirely new spells rather than merely performing existing ones. She can summon storms, fly, manipulate elemental forces, and even bind other witches' magical abilities. Personally, I would rank her among the most powerful witches in television and film, second only to the Scarlet Witch. However, Diana has comparatively less political influence than the other women here. Her authority extends primarily through her membership in the Congregation, a secret nine-member governing council responsible for regulating relations among witches, vampires, and daemons. 4) Kahlan Amnell, the Mother Confessor — Legend of the Seeker The Mother Confessor is the supreme leader of the Confessors, an order of women with extraordinary supernatural abilities in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth universe. As Mother Confessor, Kahlan Amnell possesses immense political authority throughout the Midlands. She commands the respect of rulers, can exercise authority over kings, and serves as one of the region's most influential political figures. Her supernatural ability is particularly terrifying. Through her power of Confession, she can completely overwhelm another person's will, binding that individual to her with absolute devotion and obedience. She is also an exceptionally skilled fighter. In terms of political influence, I would place Kahlan second only to Siuan Sanche on this list. Which of these four women do you think is the most powerful when both magical abilities and political authority are taken into account? And who else deserves a place on this list?
