We only exist as a species through cooperation, not competition.
Empathy is our superpower, not our downfall.
Don't believe the bullshit.
A whole new letter and a whole new thread! We're up to the letter 'G' in year 5 of the all-singing all-dancing patent pending Alan's Album Archives 'song of the day' thread. AAA music guides available from Amazon here: kdp.amazon.com/en_US/series... youtu.be/QgcNWGGP1ow?si=Yi0b…
youtu.be/GMfvYxK9Zoo?si=Wz0j… 'Find The Cost Of Freedom' CSNY (1970) Stephen Stills was hurt when this piece got rejected from the 'easy Rider' scene where the Crosbyish hippie is blown off his bike, but it made the perfect B-side for the single 'Ohio'. 1374/?
youtu.be/Ojk9yFXWZKU?si=fJfz… 'Glittering Girl' The Who (1967) One of many fine 'Who Sell Out' outtakes notable for Pete and John switching lead vocals in the brief period Roger was sacked. In a catalogue of men struggling with identity its notable how confident this girl is! 1708/?
youtu.be/z4iQOjgxkmY?si=81IU… 'Glory' David Crosby (2021) A late period Croz classic about making the most of the tiny nuggets of life when it all seems to make sense before it disappears again. The real joy though is stability, love standing tested and true time again. 109/?

This day in 1962, in between their lunchtime and night shows at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, The Beatles travelled to Granada TV Centre in Manchester to make their tv debut. They appeared live on People and Places performing two songs, Some Other Guy and Love Me Do #Beatles

The Nancy & Lee duet, “Some Velvet Morning,” is widely regarded as one of the greatest duets of all time. In fact, it topped London’s Daily Telegraph’s 2003 list of the 50 Greatest Duets Ever. The song is anything but conventional, featuring dramatic shifts in time signature from 4/4 to 3/4 that add to its distinctive, dreamlike quality.
Lee originally wanted to record the two parts separately and splice them together, but the band, which included Don Randi, Carol Kaye, and Hal Blaine, insisted they could handle the tricky changes. What you hear on record was recorded in one take!
In this clip, my buddy Don Randi talks about the recording of this iconic song.
