Live at #WMT2026 today: AQI, one human-calibrated score for machine translation quality 📊 Two humans agree at only 0.425. We audited 6 metrics on 3,450 ratings → 40% MetricX + 30% xCOMET + 30% BERTScore = one 0–100 score. Paper → www2.statmt.org/wmt26/pdf/20…

LQA (linguistic quality assurance): this line got 6 out of 10, and the reviewer was guessing 🐱 My advice: without a brief, a review is just an opinion. QACAT · Lesson 7 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 3 (4:09): instagram.com/reel/De_605RFd…

Glossary vs brief: which wins? 📑 Order of authority: client brief → glossary → translation memory → your judgment. Brief says "Auto Folders", glossary says "Smart Folders": write Auto Folders — and tell the PM, so the glossary gets updated. Follow it. Surface it. 🌪️ New series: WHERE TORNADOES TAKE US — a short film in 8 episodes. A town of four hundred and six houses. A yellow house. A little tornado that only ever put things back — and three big ones nobody understood. Nothing in this town is broken. Everything is missing. Episode 0 tonight.

100% TM match. Trust it? 🧩 Memory has "Free" → "Libre" from a room screen (free = available). On a pricing screen, free = costs nothing → "Gratis". Same words, wrong meaning. A match proves the words, not the meaning. Check context before you reuse. Lesson 22 → academy.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 4 (6:33): instagram.com/reel/De1MICTlF…

Translation without context isn't localization: Y/P is not "yellow/pink" 🟣 My advice: ask. Without context, a translator is just guessing. QACAT · Lesson 6 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 2 (3:59): instagram.com/reel/De1gw0JFJ…

Why does every user get a blank? 🧩 "Hello, {name}" → "Hello, Sam". Swap two letters — {nmae} — and the app can't fill it: every greeting comes out empty. Words around a placeholder may move (JA: {name}さん、こんにちは); the placeholder stays exact. Lesson 21 → academy.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 4 (6:33): instagram.com/reel/De1MICTlF…

Localization for marketers, A1: "I work in marketing. Allegedly." 🕵️‍♀️ Which final is actually final? How much? When? Map your translation project before kickoff → alconost.com/en/services/mar…

What an AI QA report actually catches in translation (3 real examples) 🤖 My advice: let the AI draft. Let a person ship. QACAT · Lesson 5 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 2 (3:59): instagram.com/reel/De1gw0JFJ…

Translating a strings file? Keep the key 🔑 save_button: "Save changes" → save_button: "Guardar cambios" ✅ guardar_boton: "Guardar cambios" ❌ — the app still asks for save_button, so the button comes up empty. Translate the value, preserve the key. Lesson 20 → academy.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 4 (6:33): instagram.com/reel/De1MICTlF…

AI translation QA: every check passed, and it's still wrong ⭐ My advice: brief the AI like you'd brief a translator. Rules catch what's broken, AI catches what sounds wrong, you make the call. QACAT · Lesson 4 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 2 (3:59): instagram.com/reel/De1gw0JFJ…

Translation done ≠ job finished 🔁 It's one stop on a line: brief → translate/post-edit → QA + review → delivery → feedback, back to the start. A TMS keeps it moving. At every stop: what do I receive, what must I check, who needs my result? Lesson 19 → academy.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 4 (6:33): instagram.com/reel/De1MICTlF…

POV: the seat button was mistranslated 😳🚀 "Honey, I need to raise my seat." "Sure, there should be a button somewhere." Good localization leaves no room for misunderstanding → alconost.com/en/services/sof…

Video localization: one ad, 12 languages 🌍 French on round 3 of notes, Japanese subtitles that don't fit, an Arabic layout that flips — and week 9: “can we add Korean?” Now: one sentence. Same ad, any language. alconost.com

Number format QA in localization: one of these numbers is a bug 💸 My advice: a translation can read perfectly and still be off by a zero. QACAT · Lesson 3 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 1 (3:46): instagram.com/reel/DerNkQegF…

What is LQA? 📱 "Save and continue" passed in the file — spelling, meaning, glossary. On screen, the button cuts it off. The file could never show you that. Check it where users see it, report where + expected + screenshot, and route layout issues to the UI team. Lesson 18 → academy.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 3 (6:31): instagram.com/reel/DeoUJ8xj7…

Translation consistency check: same button, two translations. Spot the bug in 3 seconds 🔍 My advice: your memory is not a QA tool. A rule is. QACAT · Lesson 2 → qacat.alconost.com ▶ Full Module 1 (3:46): instagram.com/reel/DerNkQegF…
