Marine litter is one of the main threats our Rangers encounter in the South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA). From discarded fishing gear to plastic waste, marine litter can entangle and injure wildlife, putting endangered species at risk. Our Rangers regularly patrol and remove litter to help keep SAMPA safe for marine life #SAMPA #MarineConservation #MarineLitter

The 2nd Project Steering Committee meeting of the Advancing the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) of the Maldives was held on 2 November 2026. Members reviewed project progress and endorsed the proposed 2027 workplan and budget. The NAP will further strengthen the Maldives' adaptation institutional capacity, climate information and financing, while integrating adaptation across sectors.

The Ministry's ASPIRE and ARISE Projects intend to establish more than 50 megawatts of renewable energy generation across the Maldives' 24 islands. The project will significantly contribute to the nation's goal of reducing fossil fuel dependency, accelerating toward the president's target of producing 33% of electricity from renewables by 2028. #ARISE
