An ASCO member survey shows serious harms from insurance prior authorization in oncology patients including: delays in treatment (96%), being forced into second choice therapy (93%), denial of therapy (87%), disease progression (80%), loss of life (36%). #Fixpriorauth
Prior authorization (PA) is harming people w cancer. According to our survey, PA delays Tx, worsens outcomes, & diverts clinicians from pt care. Nearly all participants say a pt has experienced harm bc of PA.
