Fires in Indonesia that have blanketed the region in haze are estimated to have accounted for nearly half of the world’s current weekly wildfire carbon emissions.
The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) estimated that fires in Indonesia emitted 14.4 megatonnes of carbon (MtC) between Oct 15 and 21.
“The only year that exceeds this is the El Nino year of 2015,” said its senior scientist Dr Mark Parrington.

Warna oren-merah terang Fiery Minivet ni dari carotenoid. Burung tak boleh buat sendiri, kena dapat dari makanan seperti serangga dan buah-buahan. Semakin bagus diet, semakin cantik warnanya!

Lumba-lumba merah jambu jarang dilihat dekat Oman. Warna pinknya bukan pigmen, tapi kulit pucat bila dewasa jadi lut cahaya. Saluran darah dekat permukaan kelihatan, membantu keluarkan haba badan. Lebih merah jambu bila aktif atau panas! 🐬🩷

Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been hitting parts of Malaysia, especially the Klang Valley, but why does the haze keep coming back?
According to MetMalaysia director-general Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip and Universiti Malaya meteorologist Professor Datuk Azizan Abu Samah, rain can temporarily clear pollutants from the air, but winds continue to carry fresh smoke from fires in Indonesia into Malaysia.
With the Northeast Monsoon approaching, a change in wind direction and more widespread rainfall could finally bring some relief.

Ni rasa macam tengok kawan yang kita sayang buat decision bodoh satu demi satu, tapi kita tak boleh stop dia...
Indonesia says foreign offers to help fight forest fires, including Malaysia’s, will only be considered if the situation is declared a national disaster.
The government remains confident it can manage the crisis with its own resources, citing technical challenges involving fuel distribution and logistics.
This comes after Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry said last week that President Prabowo Subianto had approved assistance offers from neighbouring countries, including Singapore.
What do you see in those frightened eyes?
Fear, pain, incredulity, grief? How could she understand why her forest home was burned down? Why the air was suddenly suffocating toxic smoke? Why her family was burned alive?
Do you understand why we destroy everything precious and irreplaceable for short term profit—and reward the destroyers, not the protectors?

It didn't just affect people.
Pets and stray animals were suffering too, breathing in the toxic haze and developing respiratory problems like bronchitis, coughing, and asthma...
and unlike us, they had nowhere to escape from the polluted air :(

Penyu ni penting gila! Makan rumput laut, jaga ekosistem. Seagrass sihat = ikan dan udang ada rumah. Telur jadi baja pantai. Tanpa penyu, rantaian makanan rosak.
Jaga penyu Sabah! 🐢 #JagaPenyu

Eight orang utans rescued from fires in West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, have been released into a protected forest after their habitats were destroyed by blazes last month.
The animals, comprising three mother-and-infant pairs and two adolescent males, were relocated to the 23,000-hectare Batu Nyambu Protected Forest.

Did you know there are more than 125 ancient wooden coffins hidden inside caves in Kinabatangan?
Agop Batu Tulug, a 20–25-million-year-old limestone hill, was once used as a burial site around 500–900 years ago.
Many coffins were carved from incredibly durable belian wood and decorated with buffalo heads, crocodiles, snakes, monkeys and other motifs. Those placed in the uppermost cave are believed to have belonged to people of higher social status.

Manusia merosakkan alam tu cepat dan berat.
Tapi nak pulihkan balik alam ni ambil masa bertahun-tahun...😢
Sampai bila kita nak biar ketidakcekapan ni terus berlaku??

Both Malaysia and Singapore have been asking Indonesia to release the names for years. And when sg tried to investigate the responsible individuals, Indonesia threw a diplomatic tantrum to protect the criminals and then accused sg of foreign interference.
