The Scilly60 ultramarathon traverses 5 islands in the Scillonian archipelago. It is a beautiful and sociable event where runners push to stay ahead of the 7m30s per km pace. Miss the cutoff, miss the boat. Literally! 🏝️🏃🏻‍♂️ open.substack.com/pub/everyt… #running #ultramarathon

I went to a school where people were bullied for wanting to do well in exams, get a good job, leave the town of their birth, and travel overseas. At university I met kids who had totally the opposite experience. It makes a difference.

It's time to call out these comments. When I started my career, the BBC called a programme I went on, about debt crisis "Hey Big Spender" - I objected. The biggest cause of debt crisis was change of circumstance. Since we've had a pandemic, cost of living crisis, mental health crisis. People lose jobs, lose partners, lose legs. People get cancer, have mental health breakdowns, get disabilities that stop them working. The idea that everyone can have enough saved to bring up a child when they have a child (ie £100,000s) is ludicrous. The idea that we should live in a society where there is no underlying support for people who need it, is dystopian. While there will be a few who desire to be on benefits. I suspect its very much the minority. A huge chunk of those getting Universal Credit are IN WORK. A majority of those getting child benefit are IN WORK. This was about a late payment for money many rely on. Show some bloody compassion!

If you require benefits to survive, why are you breeding?

Happy 60th Birthday #Playschool the ultimate classic pre-school programme. This show means everything to me. Being one of the presenters was simply the best time of my life as I was able to spread unconditional love, joy and happiness to all my Playschool Babies from the heart❤️

This is basically like off the shelf technology that our policymakers refuse to implement in the biggest economy on the planet.

Madagascar has been isolated for about 88 million years and is home to an abundance of plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth: 90% them are found only there. It literally looks like another world. [📹 cityscape_discovery]

Not sure if this is a glimpse of the future or a ridiculous toy, and that makes this product really exciting. It’s easy to criticize, but it has unbelievable potential. Incredible design, too — several of the original iPhone designers worked on it. hu.ma.ne/

The only mad thing here is how journalists are completely failing to appreciate how transformative AI will be (and already is in some contexts).
