Been staring at Crawlers by @rybinfx for a bit and it keeps growing on me. Not just another generative thing. These are actual digital creatures that move, make sound, and mess with the page they’re on. 1111 pieces. Each one looks like a spider or centipede built from points, squares, and circles. They live on their own Wikipedia-style page. You wake them up, guide them around, and they start reacting to words, images, and links. Some crawl slow, some race. It’s weirdly alive. The part that got me is the sound. Their movement turns into music. Then whatever they “read” gets fed into a simple generative system that writes new text under the original page. So the page starts as an encyclopedia and slowly becomes something else. Information eating information. You can also bookmark your crawler and take it to other sites. Still experimental (Wikipedia works best right now), but the idea of walking a little machine across the internet is kind of funny and kind of perfect for what the project is about. Slava (@rybinfx) is a systems artist. This is his genesis collection, hosted by @dailydotxyz and dropping on @opensea. The whole thing feels like he’s trying to give web crawlers a body and a behavior so we can actually see them for a second. Mint is tomorrow (Oct 29) on Ethereum.
