Since my last YouTube post, I've had quite a number of people in my DMs asking how to create a channel, what niche to choose, whether to warm up an account, etc. One thing I've learned is that YouTube doesn't come with a manual. What works for A might not work for B. Personally, I pay close attention to my first 5 to 10 uploads. They help me decide whether I want to keep investing time in a channel. And there's no special ritual to creating a channel. I create mine the normal way. Sometimes I warm it up, sometimes I don't. I just upload my videos and see how they perform. If none of my first 5 videos gets up to 10K impressions, I usually move on. I private the videos, save my content, create another channel and reupload the videos. That's basically it. Nothing complicated, and I'm not saying it's a guaranteed strategy. Once a channel starts showing promising signs after those first 5 to 10 uploads, that's when I begin putting more effort into my scripting, editing and overall video quality. I pay particular attention to the first 2 to 3 minutes because that's where you really need to keep viewers interested. If people click and leave almost immediately, getting more impressions won't do much for you. At the end of the day, YouTube is about testing different things and figuring out what works for you. ........... By the way, here's how my very first video is performing on a newly created channel. It started picking up on the second day.
