Ladies and gentlemen, Manisha Bhanwala is India’s first and only female wrestling world champion. The only other Indian world champion was Sushil Kumar. म्हारी छोरी खास है भाई. Proud of you, Manisha!
She was India's national badminton champion. In 1971 her husband, an Air Force pilot, was shot down over Pakistan. She quit badminton at 23 and has been waiting for him for 55 years.
Her name is Damayanti Tambay.
In April 1970, at 21, she married Flight Lieutenant Vijay Tambay of the Indian Air Force. By 1971 she had won three national titles in a row.
On 5 December 1971, during the war, Vijay flew a strike mission on a Pakistani airbase. He was shot down over Punjab in Pakistan. They had been married 20 months.
A Pakistani newspaper reported that five Indian pilots had been captured alive that day. Eyewitnesses also said Vijay was taken alive.
Pakistan said it was holding no Indian prisoners. The Indian Air Force recorded him as killed in action.
Damayanti made a vow. She would not play badminton again until she got her husband back, or proof that he was dead.
She never played again.
Vijay became one of the Missing 54, the Indian soldiers believed to have been held in Pakistan after 1971.
For over 50 years she has written to prime ministers, defence ministers and Army chiefs. No answer has come.
She is now in her mid 70s.
She said, "For me, he was everything. If I don't look out for him, who will?"

I was 29 when we started Zetwerk. My wife Sharanya and I had just returned from the US to build our lives in India. Last month, we welcomed our daughter. Last week, we took the company public. It is yet to sink in.
When I moved back, my father, a professor, was sceptical. I had walked away from the traditional Indian dream of a job abroad. But our story is also that of today's India, where my cofounders and I, 20-somethings from small towns, without family connections, can raise capital, build a business, take it global and take it public, all within a decade.
The world today is on the cusp of enormous progress: defence modernisation, energy transition, space exploration and AI buildout. Much of this progress faces a common bottleneck: building physical things in the real world.
But the manufacturing systems of the past won't build the future. Manufacturing must modernise to catch up with the industries it serves.
At Zetwerk, we always believed there is enough depth in Indian manufacturing whether it is within the small workshop in Peenya which is great at tooling or it is in the new plants we have set up to drive scaled production. Our approach combines real-world engineering with a digital stack to unify ~7000 suppliers, 25+ owned facilities, 1000+ customers and 3000+ employees into a single layer that operates with the predictability of a world-class factory, standardising quality and delivery. We call it the Universal Factory.
Our ambition is to build a world-class industrial institution bringing together two distinct worlds: software and hardware.
Think of your day today. You may have made coffee, worn headphones, taken the metro or a flight, or opened your laptop. There is a little bit of Zetwerk in all of these.
We want our customers placing complex, multimillion-dollar orders to have an experience that is "boringly predictable" - simple, transparent and reliable. We have over ₹15,900 crore in revenue, more than 80% repeat customers and a manufacturing order book of ₹13,000 crore. We've come a long way, but also have a long way to go.
On IPO day, my father stood beside me as we rang the bell at the National Stock Exchange. He is not sceptical any more :)
Someone wise once said “You make your own reality. And once you've done it, everyone's of the opinion it was all so obvious”. That is how the future works. Before something transformative exists, people call it improbable. Afterwards, they call it inevitable. This is the spirit in which we are building Zetwerk: with a relentless commitment to the future.
Great industrial institutions that came before us, like GE, L&T and Tata, helped make the modern world possible. Today, Indian manufacturing is having its moment, and we intend to build what comes next. A big thank you to our investors, customers, employees, their families, our bankers and partners who helped us get here.
We are committed to building a world-class industrial institution out of India.

why do we “fix” footpaths that go viral and not the ones that are broken?
10 months ago, double road indiranagar got "fixed”. it has become deadly again. just 850 m of footpath has 21 serious problems.
so yesterday i recorded both sides. ran it through our footpath model: here’s what came out: (full walk link in comments)
> every spot that needs fixing, geotagged with a 360° view
> who's responsible for each one: name, department, contact number (call them)
imagine if every footpath in the city is recorded twice a month (more on this soon). GBA finds the problems instead of waiting for complaints.
walking the double road footpath again this sunday to check what gets fixed.

The greatest mystery in Indian economics:
You spend 15 years studying, land a job and watch 30% TDS disappear before your salary even hits your bank account.
Meanwhile, the local ward corporator, who has no traceable business on paper:
Cruises in a convoy of 2 white fortuners, builds a multi crore mansion in your locality, and spends your entire annual CTC just putting up birthday hoardings across the junction.
In India, an honest corporate career buys you a 20 year EMI.
Local politics buys you generational real estate.
We aren't paying taxes for public infrastructure.
We’re crowdfunding VIP lifestyles.

Sorry
To those Indians here who still scream that @SauravDassss and @AshutoshRanka are alleged law breakers
You have 379 MPs and MLAs in Parliament / Assembly with Y/Z grade security who are alleged to have committed
- Rapes
- Murders
- Serious Economic Embezzlement against the Public
How many of you have objected to that?
Zip, Zilch, Nada
Yet two guys who jump a gate, yell slogans and wave a flag become major law breakers who deserve a week's jail..??
Have the same level of anger against ALL ALLEGED LAW BREAKERS and insist Parliament/Assemblies must be free of them
What a country 🤯🤯🤯

A Blinkit delivery person approached a young man and handed him his phone, asking him to speak to someone on the other end.
At first, the young man didn’t understand why he was doing this, but then the delivery person explained through gestures.
That was when the young man realized that the delivery person was speech impaired 💔
He spoke to the customer on the phone, confirmed the correct address, and helped the delivery person reach the right location.
It was later revealed that…
Every single day, this man travels the streets, making deliveries—all without saying a word—just to feed his family and send children to school.
No complaints…No excuses…
Just a sense of responsibility. ❤️
It is very much true that...…
A man never gives up when it comes to his family.
Respect. 🙏

The only man never beaten in fifty years of professional wrestling was a five-foot-seven Punjabi who drank ten litres of milk a day, ate half a kilo of ghee and six pounds of butter, and offered to fight any wrestler in the world for the title without once being taken up on it.
Ghulam Mohammad, the Great Gama, was born in Amritsar in 1878 into a wrestling family and was winning tournaments at ten. He trained in the mud pit the way the Indian akhara had for a thousand years: five thousand bethaks, the deep squat, and three thousand dands, the dipping press-up, every day, then forty bouts against forty men in turn until the last one was thrown. The diet was the fuel for it and it was almost entirely animal. Milk by the bucket, butter and ghee by the pound, chicken, mutton, and a paste of crushed almonds stirred into the milk as a tonic.
In 1910 he went to London and challenged the world. He threw the American champion in under two minutes, then stood in a ring against Stanislaus Zbyszko, the Polish world champion, for three hours while the bigger man lay flat on the mat refusing to be lifted. When Zbyszko failed to turn up for the rematch Gama was handed the belt. Frank Gotch and Hackenschmidt were both challenged. Neither accepted.
He wrestled until he was past fifty and was never thrown. At partition in 1947 he stood in a Lahore street and fought off a mob to protect his Hindu neighbours. He died in Lahore in 1960, aged eighty-two.
Bruce Lee studied his training and copied the squats. The modern wrestler studies his diet and reaches for a tub of powder.
A man built almost entirely out of milk and butter fought everyone alive and won every time, and the sport has spent the century since looking for something more scientific.

That collision will create an equally high mountain range like the Himalaya on the western coast.

Close to 105 students of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru boycotted their convocation on October 17 in protest against Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s presence at the ceremony.
More and more students are seen declining receiving their degree certificates from the CJI’s hands as a mark of protest owing to the stand taken by the Supreme Court of India on the “Right to Dissent” issue.
Time for SCI & CJI to introspect the resistance shown by students on being deprived of their fundamental rights.

🚨BIG BREAKING : This is a SUPREME INSULT 🔥
105 graduates of NLSIU Bengaluru skipped their own convocation on Oct 17 rather than take their degree from CJI Surya Kant
Now CJI probably understand that respect comes from your character and deeds, not your title!
> Over 700 students and alumni had signed a letter opposing the presence of the CJI and BCI chief Manan Kumar Mishra
> Why? Because the BCI tried to halt NALSAR's batch from enrolling as lawyers after those students objected to the CJI
> The order was withdrawn within hours, but the message was clear : object, and we'll end your career before it begins
Think about it for a second.
> Manan Kumar Mishra : BCI chairman AND a BJP Rajya Sabha MP
> NALSAR students : threatened for disagreeing
> NLSIU students : convocation cancelled, then told to "publicly invite" the CJI
These are the country's future judges and lawyers. They've seen how this system works up close, and they've decided they want no part of it.
When even law students stop trusting the people at the top of the law, the problem isn't the students.
Respect can't be ordered, CJI sahab. It has to be earned 🗿🔥

History is watching this oath ceremony. And history will not be kind.
On 18th September 2022, a 19-year-old girl named Ankita Bhandari was murdered for refusing to compromise her dignity for a VIP. Four years later, the man her family names as connected to that crime just took oath as a constitutional Governor; while the CBI investigation is still open, still incomplete, still inconclusive.
Let that sink in.
Modi's government didn't wait for justice. Modi's government didn't pause for the victim's family. It rushed this appointment, arrested Ankita's parents at 4 AM when they protested, and then held a flower-decorated swearing-in ceremony anyway.
This is the official, documented, timestamped answer to "Beti Bachao." Not a slogan failure. A deliberate policy choice.
Every future textbook chapter on women's safety in India under BJP rule should carry this image: a man under CBI scrutiny, taking a constitutional oath, while a murdered girl's parents sit in police custody.
What exactly does "women's empowerment" mean in Modi's India when this is what it looks like in practice?

Quick Question:-
People say India is more FREE than China is
Having lived for 68 years in India I know
I. Courts don't offer equitable justice to all citizens
II. Police, Officials and Politicians abuse their power massively
III. Any Indian can be jailed for 7 days without being presented before a magistrate
IV. Any Indian can be interrogated outside the presence of his lawyer by the police
V. Properties can be encroached by thugs without the slightest recourse barring an expensive settlement or a long drawn court battle
VI. Citizens can be forced to wait for 20 minutes, 30 minutes even 45 minutes for convoys of ministers to pass through
VII. The Average time to prove ones innocence is 6 1/4 years
VIII. The Average time to establish ones guilt is a single FIR registered in 20 minutes
IX. Bail is decided based on wealth of the accused rather than the weight of the case. A Theft accused could spend 15 months without bail and a rape accused could walk out in 3 months with bail
X. Corrupt Politicians & Officials are so frequent that people now regard Honest Politicians & Officials as fools
Where is this FREEDOM everyone talks about?
(If you say "Freedom to tweet this" - I believe the same freedom is available in every nation except North Korea maybe)
