A new star is born.
Introducing Antares: @Cisco's family of small language models for locating known vulnerabilities in code. Antares-350M and Antares-1B are live on Hugging Face now. They can outperform many larger closed- and open-weight models at a fraction of the cost. Small enough to run locally. No shipping sensitive codebases to the cloud. Why it matters: vulnerability triage is expensive and slow. Antares helps democratize AI-assisted security for all. FAITH, our evaluation framework, got a huge upgrade. It can support agentic evaluations for cybersecurity tasks.
Introducing Agentic FAITH: an extension of the FAITH evaluation framework from Cisco's @fdtn_ai. One workflow to run cybersecurity evaluations, grade outcomes, and analyze results across Q&A and agentic tasks. See how it works with VulnLoc: blogs.cisco.com/ai/introduci…

My 5th grader daughter asked me why infinity + infinity is not 2*infinity. I have been waiting for this question for 10 years. Tonight we will talk about the Hilbert’s infinite hotel. 🤩🤩🤩 youtu.be/Uj3_KqkI9Zo?is=pN64…

Submodularity strikes again.
OpenAI, Anthropic and other leading AI labs face a growing challenge: Better models aren't necessarily attracting more usage. A 10-point intelligence advantage now earns just 20% more developer traffic, down from nearly 69% in late 2025. Full story: thein.fo/4hGJ9jY

“It seems a little insane” Anne Carson was sweeping the kitchen floor at her home in Reykjavík, Iceland, when the phone rang and she learnt that she had been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature. In this conversation with the Nobel Prize just moments after the announcement, Carson shares her advice for aspiring writers and reveals that she has already started planning how to give away the prize money.

Recursive self-improvement grounded in real-world data.
How can AI agents continuously improve from real-world performance? Cisco @fdtn_ai introduces FAFO (Fully Automated Flow Optimization), turning production traces and sparse user feedback into an automated optimization loop. The result: recursive self-improvement grounded in real-world data. Read more: cisco-foundation-ai.github.i…

Pip or uv?
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”

We are building some of the most realistic benchmarks for cybersecurity. 👇🏻
September at Cisco Foundation AI: new benchmarks for understanding where cyber-capable AI should be strong — and where it should fail. 🔍 VLoc Bench: 500 vulnerabilities, 290 repos, 147 CWEs 📊 27 models evaluated 🤖 Antares-3B ranks second overall on VLoc Bench 🛡️ Safety-VLoc-Bench explores attacker/defender asymmetry See what @fdtn_ai shipped in September: blogs.cisco.com/ai/foundatio…
