Yeast Protein – the TRUTH. Contrary to recent claims, the Yeast Protein currently used by Indian nutraceutical brands has not been “invented” in India. Yeast Powder (approx 60% crude protein) is produced by one Indian company, which has been manufacturing it for well over a year or two, possibly longer. This material is primarily exported to an Israeli company. The Indian manufacturer is a listed entity. Yeast Protein Isolate is manufactured in China by a Chinese company. It is imported into India and distributed by multiple distributors. This is the variant currently used in most yeast-based protein formulations sold as D2C products in India. Yeast protein has been, incorrectly, positioned as having a PDCAAS of 1. Based on our initial review of yeast protein isolate, the standalone yeast protein does not achieve a PDCAAS of 1. Although, a pea + yeast protein 'blend' can deliver a PDCAAS of 1. There is nothing proprietary about this ingredient or its use in the market. @univedsports will soon launch a variant with yeast protein. As will many other brands. #YeastProtein

Whoever governs us, needs to hire qualified professionals comprising of nutritionists, MSC graduates with a degree in nutraceuticals, natural ingredient specialists, and child nutrition specialists. We need to be more aligned with global standards on quality control, manufacturing processes, and certainty on our shockingly poor and ever changing RDA regulations. Authorities must clamp down on these endless social media ADs which make unrealistic promises of weight loss, skin whitening, inch loss, and the 100x more (MORE) bio-availability claims. Our industry is turning into a worthless race of poorly formulated and malicious products driven by candy advertiting where new-age brands adopt standard D2C blueprints that mandate endless spending on CAC, luring uninformed consumers with deep discounts & false claims. ACV effervescent tablets for immediate weight loss, fairer skin, loosing belly fat, and reversing your ageing process - really? These products need to be banned, and the companies should have their licenses revoked. Sadly, this quackery is permitted, while adequately dosing a Vitamin D3 supplement to 4000-5000IU is not.
