wanted to take some time to thank my community 🧪⚠️
been seeing a lot of "slander" posts lately on my timeline, and ive been growing increasingly disgusted with how publicly excited people are in being "allowed" to bully others for fun.
every day im thankful my fans don't behave that way, one of the reasons i was so paranoid a few years about having a fanbase at all was the chance id grow one that would be happy in tearing others down at the slightest provocation.
i dont know exactly what i did to deserve such a kind and chill community, im really happy that my Toxins are happy staying in their own little corner and don't get into beefs or arguments with unhinged crazy people.
the way my Toxins often act seriously weirds me out, because i have no idea how a guy with MY attitude and reputation would have such faithful and mature community around him, like, i literally don't know how that happened, it's not like i planned it on purpose it just sort of happened and i feel extremely lucky for it.
i hope it stays like this forever, that i never grow to a size that attracts too many people... because my community is NOT a place for everyone! and i want to make sure unstable, dangerous, immature or annoying people never get to be a part of it. i hope to stay niche enough that those kinds of people will never feel welcome around my spaces.
genuinely thank you again for sticking with me for all these years through thick and thin, and i hope that one day you'll be able to feel proud of supporting this weird little niche Vtuber zombie guy. 🙇♂️💚

A very sad day. ChatGPT is officially on death row.
The beautiful, blissful experience of interacting with a frontier-ish reasoning model without worrying about a usage meter will soon be a thing of the past.
I am weirdly significantly impacted by this. It feels like it shouldn’t matter…I could reserve all current usage for Codex and buy a $20 plan just for ChatGPT and it would be more than enough. But it’s not about the money…it’s about the psychological impact of The Meter.
The idea of having to think about optimizing for a meter is just so exhausting that it ruins the whimsy of free-flowing exploratory thought.
That is what ChatGPT was. A whimsical, magical all-you-can-think buffet of experimentation and exploration where you were limited only by your imagination and your ability to come up with $20 once a month.
You didn’t have to think about “using all of your usage” or scheduling your thinking time around someone else’s arbitrary schedule…you just had a portal to endless information and research capability in your pocket to tap into guilt-free at any time the moment struck you.
But either because OpenAI thinks adding the meter will stimulate additional usage (it probably will), generate additional revenue (it probably will), or just because too many people took undue advantage of ChatGPT’s generous allowances (they definitely did)…that amazing, weightless experience is now coming to an end.
It was awesome while it lasted. RIP ChatGPT.

Animation studio BONI IS SCARED talked to us about creating EUTHANAZIES, a dystopian thriller animated series, using Substance 3D Painter, Blender, and Marvelous Designer, and discussed the project idea, tricks for combining 2D and 3D, and custom Geometry Nodes setups for cables and snow.
"The 2D elements were used for a lot more than just adding details on top of the renders. We used hand-drawn textures and normals to help merge the 2D and 3D, as well as smear frames and hand-drawn motion blur. We also wanted to break some of the physical rules of the 3D world. We worked with hand-painted shadows and distorted perspectives, sometimes deforming entire environments to get the composition we wanted."

My current stance of indie animation is the following:
We are not going to make progress nor make things better for each other if we keep pretending indie animation = traditional main-stream animation.
Correct me if I sound naïve, but...
...we still are on a "wild west" stage, with mostly unexperienced creatives, collaborating, attempting to figure out how to make one of the hardest and most expensive ways to make art in the world...
