While my brothers were in a jungle somewhere I faced up to the jungle of Peterborough City council bureaucracy, co-presenting a petition to save Woodston Library. I think we’ve got concessions. Meeting with officials next week might make things clearer! m.facebook.com/groups/403526…?

Had a wonderful treat today as a birthday present - a day at the Wallace collection followed by the most extraordinary concert by Tenebrae at St Martin in the Fields. Their skills take my breath away.

Research for a novel leads you down some rabbit holes. I mentioned to someone at a village do that I was looking for information on a 19th century rector - the acquaintance turned out to be a renowned clerical historian whose kindness & scholarship has answered all my questions.

Palm Sunday in Cathedral Square. Two donkeys, a procession and a pretend Mr. Bean parked up outside the bank selling teddies. #PalmSunday2023

To the ballet last night at the New Theatre. Ballet Theatre UK’s Romeo and Juliet for one night only. It was a superb performance. It almost made me want to go straight to the gym!

Litterpicking in my ward is oddly satisfying. The excellent Peterborough Litter Wombles group has grown into an amazing voluntary effort, & years of littering & flytipping has been cleared away. But none of this stops the tossers. What would you do if you were a litter lawmaker?

Flag raising ceremonies at the Town Hall, such as the ceremony on 11th celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Commonwealth Charter, are events marking the civic year, recognising significant events affecting our residents. It’s also the best time to belt out the national anthem.

A splendid winners afternoon tea @JClareCottage cafe this afternoon - the cafe was quite busy, even with the snow. This was perhaps one of my better raffle ticket results. To be very highly recommended!

Midnight mass unerringly turns on the Christmas Spirit and last nights service at the cathedral with John Dove’s mass was a brilliant way to feel the force…
