Good description of what life post an Icu admission can be life for our patients. Showing the importance of remembering there is always #personbehindthepatient we ALL need to be #Rehablegend and if you don’t look for #delirium you won’t find it. #CriticalCare

COVID19 patient spent 6 days walking on the ventilator, 8 days proned, then 4 days standing and working on walking until extubated. He got himself into his car to go straight home 10 days later today. He shut the door without looking back. I don't think we'll see him again. :)

Wonderful article with contributions from insightful experts. The public should know what life after the ICU is like. Do we understand this from inside the ICU? @DrDaleNeedham washingtonpost.com/health/20…

What we need to know from patient/family is 1) what makes their life meaningful 2) what is most important 3) what they are most worried about As long as we know these, we can make a recommendation (give a guidance). I wrote a paper about this, which will be out soon.
Replying to @snakagawa_md

Two yr post-DC outcomes study by Dale Hengesbach from RML. 189 CCI patients had comprehensive 1 yr follow-up data thx to monthly contact to reduce drop out. 75% of the time is spent at home/skilled nursing after the LTCH but ADL goals are usually not met. #icurehab

I am BIG believer in the opportunity for #OT to drive #icurehab and #hospital outcomes. To get there 1) consider #OT as you develop your #icurehab plan 2) invest in training your #OTs 3) advocate for #OT schools to introduce #acutecare in curriculum #everyBODYmoves @HopkinsAMP

Agree w: below. This is why we specifically have an OT-specific meet-up during our social/networking event at the Hopkins @icurehab conference (coming very soon: Oct 10-12 2019: hopkinsmedicine.org/pulmonar…) We want to meet all OTs interested in #ICUrehab & help build the network
There are limited OTs nationally in ICU please attend and get your voice heard. Together the MDT and patient outcome is stronger @ICS_updates
