Vinod, you didn't "practically start" the open-source movement. I did, building on Richard Stallman's earlier "free software" advocacy. Sun has an honorable legacy, which you are crapping on by attempting to falsify history. Shame on you.

Sorry, this is pure FUD. Google API keys are very simple, people just don't follow very simple steps.
All you need to do is:
1. Sign in to google cloud console
2. Create a new project
3. Enable billing on that project
4. Search for numerous "services" that you need to enable for that API
5. Find out there are more you need to enable to actually make it work
6. Go and enable them.
7. Create the key
8. It still doesn't work and you keep wondering why and then spending days with customer support (after many different wrong AI generated answers that lead you to a wild goose chase), you find some hidden webpage that oh wait, you need to create a key in ai studio for this now
9. ai studio says you are only on tier -43 so you can only do transactions of less than $0.2 in a day
10. Then you go to openrouter and make a key and use it.
It's extremely simple.
have you ever seen anyone preferring sarvam for "coding" over claude or codex? absence of attribution and the original license which has the openai copyright is the ultimate proof. and i think we are all aware of what sarvam did with mistral models in the past.
be sarvam, fork @OpenAI's apache-2.0 licensed open source code, strip the attribution, call it sovereign ai. incredible engineering.
these are our frontier labs man.
Genuinely happy for Adalat AI.
And I was part of a jury selected them as a winner in last year #JustAI awards by @DEFindia ,
Probably one of their early recognitions

#india was ahead of much of the world when it adopted its opennsource policy in 2015 @GoI_MeitY
In 2026, as countries race to achieve digital sovereignty, #india does not need to rediscover the idea.
It can start by implementing the policies #india already has
Public digital infrastructure should create a commons, not another vendor lock in and dependency.

@SFLCin was founded around precisely this intersection. software freedom, innovation andcivil liberties. public power should not become technologically dependent on systems the public cannot inspect, understand, replace or improve. @GoI_MeitY #freeasinfreedom #OSS
The world keeps marching. EU now treats #opensource as part of technological sovereignty.
UK publish government code, use #opensource
US federal sourcec ode reuse + #opensource requirements.
France govt #OSS catalogue, Open Source Council public digital tools.
This is the missing piece.
Every major govt software procurement should disclose.
What #OSS alternatives were evaluated?
Why were they rejected?
What is the lifetime cost?
Can government migrate its data?
Who controls the code?
Who approved the exception?
Otherwise preference means very little.
And proprietary government procurement continues.
Government bodies still issue tenders specifically seeking @Microsoft @Oracle and other proprietary products.
That isn't automatically unlawfu. The policy allows exceptions but it raises a very simple question.
Where is the justification required by the policy?

Now @SFLCin has been pointing to the implementation gap for years.
# SWAYAM is example. committees discussed using opensource technology for India's national education platform. A proprietary platform was ultimately chosen.
@SFLCin used RTI to examine how that happened
As education is being discussed @aisa

National Data Sharing and Accessibility Policy (NDSAP), 2012
India consciously constructed an interconnected architecture around openness and interoperability. Government was doing it v the right way @meity
This wasn't an isolated policy.
India also adopted policies on
#Open Standards
#Open APIs
#Open Government Data
#interoperability
#reuse of publicly funded data
The architecture for a genuinely open #Digitalindia already exists. Mostly on paper.

Goals are also clear. Strategic control, lower lifetime costs and less technological dependence.
Everything Europe wants.
The policy was unusually sensible. @GoI_MeitY. I know ;)
When government buys or builds an e-governance system, suppliers must consider open source software. #oss
If they exclude it, they are supposed to justify why.

Replying to @mishichoudhary @AshwiniVaishnaw
In 2015, the Government adopted a mandatory policy preferring open source software for e governance. Then mostly forgot about it. #OSS. @anivar

Although #india is nowhere close to US or China in the #AI race no matter what. @AshwiniVaishnaw says. It has been talking a lot about digital sovereignty.
Strange part. #india already wrote one of its most important policies 11 years ago. #OSS

Another related point - Suddenly dancing QRs are going to be cool again. The Fraud Stack has always adapted better to regulations than anything else.
Who benefits from the re-introduction of MDR? mostly PhonePe (Walmart) and Google Pay.
In fact this looks like an IPO gift from the Indian government for PhonePe.
I did some calculations. Full post on MediaNama. Some calculations below.
My assumptions:
1. All the MDR money goes to the UPI app.
2. MDR applies to all transactions.
3. About 29% of transactions are Payments to merchants (P2M). This is based on outdated data from NPCI.
