As an early-stage PM, if you're creating a laundry list of epics and using ICE to rank them into a roadmap, you've already set yourself up to fail.
Unfortunately, it's not just your mistake. Sometimes, even product leaders never learn what prioritization actually means.
The habit of overcomplicating things to sound smart is one of the most expensive debts in a PM’s career
As you grow in your career, the “simplest” decks+ messages+ communication style will deliver the highest ROI
Don’t use AI to sound smart. Use it to sound simple and concise.
As PM - If you/your counterpart repeatedly optimize the process to fix delivery failures, that’s a red flag.
It’s easy to fake that, creates illusion of progress and gives everyone something to point at - but mostly the problem isn’t the process.
It’s the thinking, The judgment
The uncomfortable truth: AI doesn’t create mediocre thinking—it accelerates it.
People blame AI for lacklustre work when the real problem is weak fundamentals.
Master the basics, and AI becomes a force multiplier. Ignore them, and it helps you produce more mediocre work, faster
I’ve learned the hard way in product:
Ambiguity isn’t a phase you eventually graduate from.
If you wait to make decisions until there’s none left, you’ll never make the decision.
Shake hands with it. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. That’s the job.
Early-stage PMs, if you want to improve your execution quotient, master the skill of distinguishing between what users say they do and what they have actually done.
Ask: “Show me the last time you did this.” & see your world change!
No one hates dogfooding. Everyone loves “drink your own champagne.”
The problem is when “this is how we use our product” quietly becomes “this is how our customers should use our product.”
That’s the dogfooding black hole.
Writing about it. Publishing soon.
Anyone else noticing this?
Lot of tech/AI podcasts lately seem to have the same speaking style: lower pitch, slower cadence, more pauses, vocal fry, very "Sam Altman-ish."
Not copying him, but somehow sounding similar.
Am I imagining this or is my brain just pattern-matching ?
the worst thing this june 2026 is dealing with @ZEE5India to watch fifa wc. 😡
