“If this was a French food it would probably have some kind of protected status of origin, but we don’t do that much in England. For me it represents a cultural and culinary heritage.”

We're working with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation to call for an Essentials Guarantee within Universal Credit, which means the basic rate at least covers life's essentials and that support can never be pulled below that level. #EndUKHunger #EssentialsGuarantee
The public know we need a plan for hardship
Stats published today show 3 in 4 believe there is quite a lot of real poverty in Britain - the highest level since 1986 according to @NatCen

Our volunteers do so much at the #foodbank to provide emergency support and build a future where everyone has enough money – from sorting donations to giving out parcels and logging with the @trusselltrust the reasons why people need help. Thank You! #VolunteersWeek

We are campaigning for a future where nobody needs a #foodbank. Hunger in Newcastle-under-Lyme isn’t about food – it’s about local people not having enough money. This isn’t right. None of us should need a charity to put food on the table.

No one should have to turn to a food bank just to survive.
📈 Yet, food banks in our network provided over 3.1 MILLION emergency food parcels last year.
And @FoyleFoodbank, @wlfoodbank, @NewcStaffsFB and Birmingham Central Foodbank shared how many food parcels they provided. ⤵️

It's still extremely tough out there in our industry. This week last year we fed 318 people with 115 on the Friday. This week it's 190, with 16 guests on Wednesday and no one in for lunch on Thursday. Please support your local restaurant when you can, before it's too late for us

Once upon a time our beautiful cafe looked like this. We’ve met a fair few new customers this week surprised to find we opened almost 8 years ago. It’s taken personal sacrifice, hard graft, determination and sheer grit but most importantly support! Please shop and spend local ❤️
