Winning this World Cup is about more than rugby! It won't lower unemployment, slow down crime, or improve the economy, but it will plant a seed in enough people's heads and hearts that the future hasn't been written yet. We could still rescue this "game" called life we're playing as South Africans, and it serves as a proxy that the impossible is still possible.
Three weeks in a row, our beloved Boks had to dig deep against the best teams in the world. Every week it looked like we were down and out and then somehow, we pulled through when it mattered most. They have created a blueprint for we can still achieve as a nation even though "it doesn't look likely".
This World Cup victory is about more than rugby because ideas are powerful. South Africans are bombarded with negativity and doom on the daily, so it's easy to feel like it's all going to hell. But last night's victory serves as a reminder that the future is still in our hands.
It's so easy to look at the current state of South Africa and condemn us to certain destruction, but the Boks gave us the ability to point to an unlikely victory. It's easier to believe things can get better when there's a real life example set before us.
Last point. The Boks showed us one more thing. If we want the "victory" bad enough then we've got to take action. No one is going to do it for us. As citizens, we've got to do it ourselves. It will be hard, but it is possible.
I love this country so much. I know you do too! Thank you to the Boks for giving us a glimmer of hope and many sore heads. We are the champions of the world.

It's hard to be positive about South Africa when you don't have electricity for half the day, you read news reports that the country is broke, 80 murders a day, unemployment is sky rocketing, and our education system is broken. Most people are left with the helpless feeling there's very little we can do.
But this is where I want to remind you that we are less than a year away from the national election. There is one VERY REAL THING each of us can do and that's get ready to vote. And then we are able to encourage others to do the same.
The problem is, South Africans complain about the status quo and then don't show up the one time they have the power to elect change. It's insane. The truth is, South Africa won't get better unless we do.
The purple part of the circle in this picture is the percentage of people that didn't vote in the last general elections. Basically, more people didn't vote than did vote in 2019. This is apathy at its finest.
If you want to know how the ANC have stayed in power while continuing to destroy everything in sight, it's because there are no consequences to their actions. They get to do as they please, while some vote for them again, and many others stay out of politics entirely.
I know many people who didn't vote, and when I gave them a hard time about it, they said they're not interested in politics. And that's my point, you may want nothing to do with politics, but every facet of politics impacts all of us as citizens, all the time.
So where to from here?
1. It's your job to encourage others to get involved.
2. It's your job to get vocal about change.
3. It's your job to get others to vote.
Or do nothing. Either way, but remember, we collectively get the government we deserve.
PS. I'm begging you to retweet this post. Not for engagement but because you want the same change I do. We have less than a year to go but the time is NOW!

Well, well, well, South Africa has managed to beat its climate goal thanks to the ultimate superpower: load shedding! Who needs fancy renewable energy solutions when you have the power to simply turn off the power? It's the ultimate hack for reducing emissions!
I can just picture it now: a group of brilliant scientists and policymakers sitting around a table, scratching their heads, and suddenly someone exclaims, "I've got it! Let's embrace load shedding and save the planet!" Genius, I tell you, sheer genius.
Forget about wind turbines or solar panels. Load shedding is the real MVP when it comes to combating climate change. It's like a magic trick, making emissions disappear into thin air, along with your hopes of having a functional electricity supply.
You have to admire the South African spirit, turning a nationwide inconvenience into an environmental triumph. While other countries are busy investing in green technologies, South Africa said, "Nah, we'll stick with blackouts, thank you very much."
But let's not stop there. Maybe South Africa can continue this trend of unconventional climate solutions. How about implementing "water shedding" to conserve water? Or "traffic shedding" to reduce carbon emissions from vehicles stuck in gridlock? The possibilities are endless!
So, congratulations, South Africa, for finding an innovative way to tackle climate change. Who knew that load shedding could be the hero we never knew we needed? Now, if only we could find a way to power our lives without stumbling in the dark every other hour, we'd truly be on our way to a brighter, more sustainable future.

We love South Africans sense of humour. "Ministers have to be available 24/7". ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Imagine if that REALLY was the case, @GovernmentZA and @PresidencyZA.

De Ruyter is a genius. He shouts, I RESIGN!! (effective March '23).
The whole ANC cabinet rejoice. Out comes SANDF to protect substations, investigation launched on saboteurs, massive financial push for Eskom...
Come March '23 De Ruyter says, I was only joking.

Durban was built over 160 years from 1835. It was handed to ANC in 1995 as one of the only debt free cities on the planet. In less than 30 years ANC has almost destroyed it!

If they think the average parent in South Africa will let their 6-year old little girl share a bathroom with a 13-year old boy, no matter in what clothes he is, they can think again. This WILL NOT FLY. Nothing, but nothing, will make us do that to our children.

Over 3,000 schools in South Africa have unisex toilets already.
How progressive???
Except they are called Pit Latrines with no running water. Ja, just a few holes in the ground for the whole school to share.
South Africa has bigger problem than a โanti-woke-wokeโ narrative.
Unisex toilets proposed for South African schools.
Woke gender ideology imported straight from America.
