Okay maybe u should be maximizing stress and effort now while simultaneously planning to also long term horizons of success and effort (I’m doing this: stuff that immediately helps or shows ability and then stuff that will be supremely valuable long term):

This is bc reality is basically mechanistic and not probabilistic. Probabilities aren't even real outside of quantum mechanics. They're a speculators game not a practitioner's.

You should bet that nothing you do matters but also search infinitely for something that might matter forever. This is a perennial law but you may have thousands of years to explore it so expand your time frames to be ‘millions of hours of practice for insane results’

Increase in noise to signal ratio incoming; major issues with overpopulation of “high impact” work—perhaps you will see some important stuff, but ‘impact’ probably clouded out by AI if you *truly* believe in AI progress.. no idea what he means by ‘contribute intellectually’

If anything choose to do work that will matter even after ASI, which is a harder task than killing yourself or producing a short term impact on a world with a predestined future whose effects will cloud the landscape with those seeking to make ‘impact.’

Changing your effort on your personal ‘impact’ scale is probably gay and stupid — mostly because it’s anti any law of fair competition… hence I will be focusing on something that survives into the far future rather than believing I can piggy back my ideas onto a perfect AI.
