Don’t be ICE, don’t be Antifa.
Go ahead and argue vociferously on social media.
Try to be tolerant and generous with your assumptions about people you meet in the physical world.
I think we can draw distinctions between a relative coming in for a hug and harassment, yes.
What’s weird is the state thinking it has a role in regulating cultural norms.

1. One big problem supporters of this tax never address is the people who won’t come, and don’t form businesses in CA. This is already visible in CA and MA relative net migration and business formation stats (1/2)…
This Hoover Institution study, which has fueled the deluge of ads (more than $200 million spent by billionaires so far) to defeat the California billionaire tax, is spectacularly misleading.
Let me explain its crucial flaw. 🧵

Zucman argues that the tax will raise his projected revenue because billionaires who leave CA after 1/1/26 will be taxed anyway.
At least $542B of net worth (Page, Brin, Thiel) departed the state by 12/31/25.
The entire thread is a misleading denial of this fact.

Er…twice as fast is quite fast. When so many other curriculum innovations actually makes things worse, 42% failing to go twice as fast doesn’t seem like failure.

Oh absolutely. That why they got started after it cooled down.
The gen Xers I know think the left tail of the Democratic party is crazy. But yeah, they think the same of MAGA
Yeesh. In the 1970s, a far more dangerous time in NYC, I rode the bus to school. In third grade.
Misery, fraud conviction, ethics. Small stuff.
Honestly, at 43, what's actually stopping me from taking out every personal loan I can qualify for, running every credit card I own straight to the limit, finally booking the trips I've put off for a decade, finally doing the renovations, replacing the car, and just living like money isn't a constraint for six months, and then filing Chapter 7?
I wasn't on track to buy a house in this market anyway, not at these rates, not at these prices. That ship sailed years ago for people in my bracket.
My credit score already isn't opening any doors that actually matter to me at this point. It's not getting me a mortgage I can afford. It's not getting me anywhere close to generational wealth. It's just a number I check and feel bad about.
So genuinely, what's the real downside here that isn't already my current situation in a slower, more painful form?
Oh, there’s a lot of this…
CA and WA legislators are *shocked* that voters don’t believe governments will hold the line at only these latest unprecedented taxes.
Gee I wonder why.
Outlawing demonstrations *except* for unions is up there with the “riot cafe”photo for the most French thing ever.
