Toronto, we’re here. 🇨🇦 Last week, @lyft opened our new office in downtown Toronto, now our second-largest technology hub in North America after San Francisco. We’ve been building in Canada since 2017. This office marks the next chapter, and an even bigger investment in the incredible engineering, product, and AI talent in Toronto. The best part of the opening was spending time with the team. The energy in the room was real, and I came back even more excited about what’s ahead and what we’re going to build together. And we’re hiring. If you’re interested in building with us across engineering, product, and AI, take a look at our open roles in Toronto: lyft.com/careers#openings?lo….

Foreign investment in Canada is at a 20-year high. We’re turning that global capital into opportunity for Canadian workers — unlocking more than $1 trillion in investment across our economy, from ports, roads and railways to mines and major energy projects. That is what building our strength at home looks like.

Prime Minister Mark Carney just announced a “productivity mega deduction” that allows companies to immediately deduct 100 per cent of the cost of new investment across far more assets than previously allowed. It makes a tax measure announced in last year’s federal budget, the “productivity super-deduction,” more generous. The new regime roughly cuts Canada’s marginal effective tax rate on new business investment in half, from 13 per cent to 6.4 per cent. The government says that is the lowest rate of any major advanced economy. 🔗 Follow our reporters' live coverage of all-things related to the investment summit on Day 2: theglobeandmail.com/business…
