She gave up her season to make a point.
Battle Ground High School sophomore Elise Bierer stepped to the starting line at Wednesday's district cross-country championship in Camas, Washington. When the gun went off, she turned around and walked away alone rather than race against a male athlete in the girls' race.
That ended her shot at regionals. Her mom met her with a hug as she broke down in tears.
Washington voters decide Initiative 638 on Nov. 3. It would require biological sex verification for girls' K-12 sports.
No teenage girl should have to choose between her dreams and fairness. Vote like your daughters depend on it.

A political action committee funded by the Washington Education Association put a picture of me on its website, calling me one of the state's "most destructive" voices. I'm flattered!
Appreciate @BroncoSportsFB & @CoachUdy stopping by Seattle Prep to learn more about our community, Panther Pride Football, and the awesome young men in our program.

I actually cannot believe high school girls are still having to take it upon themselves to enact change against an obvious injustice.
Not the adults, or the coaches, or the Governor, or the sporting governing body...the 14 year old girls.

🚨INCREDIBLE: Tumwater High School girls track team stood on the podium at the Washington state championships in Tacoma wearing shirts that read “Keep Women’s Sports Female.”
The moment came after a transgender athlete from East Valley High School in Spokane, Veronica Garcia, competed in multiple girls’ events and won a state title. Tumwater’s girls had beaten Garcia’s relay team in a prelim before finishing outside the top spots in the final.
Tumwater’s school board had earlier passed a resolution seeking to limit girls’ events to biological females after the district faced a federal investigation over a game involving a transgender athlete. The shirts drew immediate attention, with some calling them a protest for fairness and others labeling them anti-trans.
The girls wore the message on the medal stand. This is incredible bravery!👏🏾

Can you imagine being this boy's parents? Letting him do this?
He switched from the boys category to girls' and he went from placing 76th in boys to 2nd in girls a month later.

Girls soccer stayed hot, beating West Seattle 5-0. Avila Maul had the lone first half goal before the Panthers opened it up in the 2nd period.
Katie Nisbet, Lucy Buckholtz, Callie Fields and Rowan Lawlor each scored in the 2nd half offensive explosion.

BREAKING: Nearly half of the girls cross-country team in Camas, Washington, just forfeited their race. They refused to compete against a boy. This is bravery. Vote YES on I-638 to stand with them. Video: @KnownHeretic

When I knocked on doors, no one answered. Neighbors told me they have never seen any kids!
These individual daycares are receiving $40,000 - $70,000 per month.
