I was lost. Garfield didn't even have the shortest presidency (William Henry Harrison). Unless for some reason it's interpreting "post-presidency" as "post-election" but that still doesn't explain THIS answer. Harrison would've made SOME sense.

Garfield died in office. You can't have a post-presidency if you're dead. According to Chat GPT, his post-presidency started when he entered office*

So then I thought maybe dealing with, well-documented but "controversial" history was too much for ChatGPT so I decided to give it a simple question: "Who had the shortest post-presidency?" It said James Garfield.

You know...the same Thomas Jefferson in which there is well-recorded evidence he fathered several children with Sally Hemings, one of his slaves? Anyway, told ChatGPT it was wrong, it apologized and let me know that Jefferson having kids was widely recorded historical fact.

I asked again if there were any presidents who didn't have biological children and it spat out a list of: William Howard Taft, Martin Van Buren, James Buchanan, Andrew Jackson And Thomas Jefferson.

I asked for another example and this time it gave me "Warren Harding." This is where my history knowledge comes in because Warren Harding was a notorious philanderer who DEFINITELY had a child out wedlock. I politely pointed that out. ChatGPT said I was right and apologized.

I started by asking it if it could guess a person if I gave it a clue. I said "a U.S. president with no children." It responded with "James Madison." Factually accurate.

I just want to renew and advance my license. This feels like psychological torture.
