What Does Cholla's Next Chapter Mean for Arizona?
It means enough reliable, around-the-clock electricity to power approximately 61,000 Arizona homes. By repowering the Cholla Power Plant with natural gas, APS will strengthen Arizona's electric grid, help meet the state's growing energy needs and create good paying jobs in rural Arizona.

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station is the backbone of AZ’s grid—delivering reliable, 24/7 baseload power to millions of homes & businesses. As electricity demand grows, preserving & expanding nuclear power will be critical to keeping the lights on & energy affordable.

Reliable electricity doesn’t happen by accident. It takes planning, skilled workers, and long-term investment to build and maintain the infrastructure communities rely on every day.
With $2.5 billion invested in Arizona infrastructure, APS is helping support a stronger grid, local jobs, and future growth across the state.
