To have a stable democracy, power needs to be distributed throughout society, which economic inequality makes impossible. Organized labor is the only way to fix it.

It shouldn’t need to be said but this isn’t about politics. This is about flaunting blatant violations of the NLRA
Good on @UAW for standing up for all workers

Unionization in design industries is approaching a tipping point. While the numbers are relatively small, these victories represent a massive shift in how designers see themselves. @arch_workers_u @TheNewSchool

If you want to understand better how thoughtful and considerate and smart and clear-headed these workers are about what they have accomplished, what it means, and how they want to help in shaping the office they are part of, then read this!!

"We all come from the studio education that's very artistic, very creative, and I think reality hits really quickly when you get into an office, that it's just not really the way practice is anymore. There's also the long hours and all that other stuff."

"There's some really great wins for us, so that's obviously good, but it feels equally exciting to get this contract out in the open so other offices can see what a collectively bargained contract gets you."

Huge congratulations to all the organizers and workers at Bernheimer Architecture who put in the hard work to get here. Genuinely heartening to see and hopefully the start of something larger in our field.

Massive news — congrats to these workers and the AWU! Hoping this signifies a broader shift in the industry toward collective action being the norm, not an aberration
There’s no other way of saying it than this is HISTORIC
We finally have a union contract in the architecture industry
We’ll be updating with more detailed information about particular articles of the contract
But for now this is HUGE!!
And to @abernheimer for voluntarily recognizing this group and being a partner in these negotiations
Negotiations are two sided and this is a contract that everyone can be proud of!!
