I don’t want any fool speaking on behalf of men, claiming that women’s clothes “tempt” men or make them unable to control themselves. What a sick excuse.
Speak for yourself. And, free advice: seek help!

Honestly, y’all are so uneducated and illiterate on this subject. This whole saga has made me realize how much ignorance still exists in our society. Too many people blindly follow whatever rules are imposed on them without questioning whether they actually make sense. Some people confuse being told what to believe with actually understanding it.
A woman’s body is not something society or the State should get to control. If someone’s clothing is your biggest concern, while actual violence, abuse and harassment continue to affect women, then maybe we need to seriously rethink our priorities.

Truly shocking. The amount of women that grew up looking up to you & you have nothing to say as you watch them get targeted & oppressed for simply walking out the door?🤦🏾♂️ You understand the voice you alone have just given to predators & misogynists, by this statement?

🚨NEW SUBSTACK 🚨
We tell ourselves Rwanda is modern, fair and ‘exceptional’. Then we watch women threatened because their dresses show ‘too much leg’.
What the hell are we doing to Rwanda’s women? 👇 thelongviewbysanny.substack.…

As young women, we look up to you. If climbing the ladder requires conformity and silence, what exactly are we aspiring to? Token representation allows the state to appear inclusive while women uphold the very systems that oppress them. We want fearless leaders, not figureheads.
You call upon us to defend our country from inyangarwanda and when we need answers from you we are met with silence? For 3 days you have absolutely nothing to say when we are seeing women being harassed?? Absolute BS. The foot will stay on the gas!!! #Freethewomen
The way this whole thing exposed the level of perversion in men and hatred towards women that was just lying underneath the streets of Rwanda.
In hindsight, the extraction of this didn’t need too much digging: and who can only benefit from it?

In the coming days, thieves will probably start raising concerns and asking the police to lock up people who own expensive things that tempt them to steal😂

There is no factual co-relation between longer clothes for women & morals of a society. Evidence suggests to the contrary that the longer the clothes the harder the oppression against women. Dress codes are best adressed through private/ self-regulation (e.g. right of admission)

Dear Mr. President @paulkagame, as Commander-in-Chief, we need you to order the police off our bodies. They are violating and degrading us in public and have put a dangerous target on the women of this country under the guise of the law.
This must not continue.

We love Rwanda, we love our gorillas, and we love celebrating our country but the show cannot go on while women are being humiliated and oppressed.
Until this issue is addressed, we respectfully ask @heisrema not to perform in Rwanda!
Over twenty (20) baby gorillas to be named on Friday 4th September 2026 in Kinigi, @MusanzeDistrict, during the annual gorilla naming ceremony #KwitaIzina.
The event will be attended by Nigerian star @heisrema, who will also perform in a much awaited concert on Saturday 5th September 2026 at @bkarenarw, starting 6pm.
Let us all - young and older, men and women - celebrate music in peace and dance over hits such as "Are You There?", "Soundgasm" and "Calm Down", as the show must go on!

The Police’s response raises even more questions. They say the officers were arrested and the lady “yarenganuwe” but what does that actually mean? What prompted the arrest in the first place, and what specific law were the officers acting under?

By the way @Rwandapolice I’m a woman who wears pants, big t-shirts, hats, sunglasses and mask every single day and yet I’ve experienced more harassment than I do wearing a short dress, stopping us from wearing what’s comfortable to us is not a solution, get these men in therapy.

It really is so scary. I am so worried for us, my younger sisters, my daughters…
Beloved women and gals, I hope you get to have some sleep. It’s been draining 💔
Sending so much love and big, tight hugs. ❣️
All my lady friends are telling me they are now scared to leave the house!!!...thats what @Rwandapolice has achieved in literally 2 days
