Antisemitism is a cancer in our politics.
We fought hard to root it out of our party.
We will not stand by and watch it infect public life again.

Trump is a Russian asset. And Putin despises his weakness and uses him.
"I think it's time for Ukraine to get a new president," President Trump said Saturday, slamming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for targeting Russian diesel refineries after Trump made a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel.
"He can do whatever he wants, but he can't do that because we have a world problem," Trump said. "And the problem is caused by the lack of refineries for diesel fuel... He'd better damn well stop."

We'll have a full analysis of the Conservatives' proposed inheritance tax cuts tomorrow. But, for now, three charts.
1. Who would benefit from the cuts?

Today marks the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street which took place in my constituency.
Behind me is the Cable Street Mural, which commemorates the thousands of East Enders who stood together against fascism and intolerance in a struggle that brought many communities together: the Jewish community, the trade union movement and many others.
It is because of their struggles that we can live in greater safety today. We must continue to build on their legacy and fight against the resurgence of antisemitism, racism and hatred in our society.

Well done Caroline Lucas for speaking out again this morning against the 'Zionism is racism' motion at this weekend's Green Party conference. As she says, it is clearly "divisive" and a sign "Jewish people are not welcome". Meanwhile, Zack Polanski continues to equivocate over it
My earlier tweet about this interview quoted Caroline Lucas as saying the Greens must find a less “toxic” way of criticising the Israeli government. I’ve deleted it to be more specific and accurate. She was talking about the ‘Zionism is racism’ motion, which she said “caused a lot of concern among people across the party, in the sense that there are many different versions of Zionism”, added that she hoped “if it does come back… we have a much less divisive motion” and went on to say that “it’s up to the party to decide what it’s going to discuss, but I just hope it’s done in a way that’s less toxic than it was before”:

Lot of chatter about small boat numbers today. These are the latest figures from Migration Watch. The reality is there has been a major fall - despite the good weather - in the numbers. It doesn't fit the narrative. But it's clear that something the Government is doing is having an impact.

85% of rapes are perpetrated by men known to the victim.
We are not "protecting women" by pretending the asylum seekers are the threat.
Women are no more or less in danger from an asylum seeker than they are from their boss, the Tesco delivery man, or the pub landlord.

ALT A bar graph shows the relationship of sexual assault victims to their perpetrators, comparing data between males and females in England and Wales. 43.2% of perpetrators are the partner or ex-partner of the victim. 37.8% of perpetrators are someone known to the victim other than a partner or family member and only 15% were assaulted by a stranger.

This year, we’ve seen far more coverage of the need for air conditioning in Europe than of the drought in Afghanistan, the desertification of the Sahel, or of food insecurity in Somalia.
This is exactly why we need to flip the conversation on climate change.
As IRC staff and clients know all too well, the life-threatening impacts of the climate crisis are already here. Now, what’s needed is the political will to address them.
This week, I made the case for urgent action for the world’s most vulnerable at @Independent's Climate 100 event.

Replying to @AmbDuchene
@AmbDuchene held a meeting with @CPhilpOfficial at his request. She spoke of the very good cooperation between France and the UK in combating irregular Channel crossings.
The figures are clear: number of crossings down 51% from 2025 to 2026 (January-August). The best results since 2019.

Man who supported Brexit then fucked off to Monaco to avoid contributing a penny of his £15 billion fortune to public services makes the mistake of thinking anyone gives a shit what he thinks.
Is his argument maybe that his criminal past, and his pardon from Trump (presumably bought with a donation), isn’t relevant to his attempt to influence British politics in favour of a crook-favourable party that would weaken controls on crypto?

A bike is the symbol of free travel, so it's sad that people on low incomes are least likely to have one. We've got a cheap, simple proposal to help people buy a cycle and get a bit more breathing space.

Our charity exists to save lives at sea. Our mission is to save every one. Our lifesavers are compelled to help those in need without judgement of how they came to be in the water. They have done so since the RNLI was founded in 1824 and this will always be our ethos.
