Yesterday, @IITKanpur took two important steps towards building its next chapter. Through #GreaterThanUs, we invited everyone to be part of our US$1 billion campaign to strengthen our foundation, invest in talent and advance frontier research. We also announced the Gautam School of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (G-SINE). It will expose the students to best entrepreneurs from around the world with an aim to create next-gen entrepreneurs. The MBA program starts in July 2027. Grateful to Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh for joining and encouraging us at this important milestone.

Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh today launched GreaterThanUs, IIT Kanpur’s campaign to raise US$1 billion by March 2029, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The campaign will invest across three pillars. Foundation will build research facilities, new halls of residence and a Centre for Mental Health & Wellbeing. Talent will support scholarships, fellowships, faculty recruitment and initiatives to identify and nurture young minds. Frontier will advance research in AI, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, semiconductors, drones, MedTech and sustainability, taking breakthroughs from the lab to real-world applications. The ambition is to build an institution equipped to shape India’s next era of scientific discovery and technological leadership. What we build together will be greater than any one of us. #GreaterThanUs #IITKanpur #IITKanpurCampaign #NewFrontiers #FutureOfInnovation #BuildingTheFuture

Interested in accelerating your team's single-molecule fluorescence and FRET investigations so that more time is available for biological discovery? Today, our team is excited to announce the release of FLASH and SPARTAN, our lab's workhorse softwares for data acquisition and data analysis, respectively. We look forward to working closely with the community to advance these platform-specific tools in order to accelerate the exploration of molecular biophysics and the role of dynamism in biological regulation. nature.com/articles/s41592-0…

Remembering Prof. G. N. Ramachandran on his 104th birth anniversary A pioneer of structural biology, he proposed the triple-helix structure of collagen and co-developed the Ramachandran Plot, which is still used worldwide to understand and validate protein structures. His work laid the foundation for molecular biophysics in India and continues to shape modern biology and drug discovery. Celebrating a visionary who changed how we see the molecules of life. #GNRamachandran #RamachandranPlot #StructuralBiology @DrJitendraSingh @rajesh_gokhale @BricDbt @DBT_inStem @NABI_India @bric_ils @HydNiab @FollowDbtNibmg @NIPGRsocial @NImmunology @BRIC_CDFD @DBT_NCCS_Pune @ICGEB @DBT_inStem @DBT_NBRC @RGCB_Trivandrum @DBT_IBSD @THSTIFaridabad @unescorcb @CSIR_IND @ICGEBNewDelhi @BIRAC_2012 @CSIRIndia @DSTIndia

“I have to emphasise how lucky I was because when we staffed this project everybody realised this was maybe a good idea, but very few thought it would work, including myself. So this was kind of an adventure where success was not guaranteed." Francis Halzen – newly awarded physics laureate – explained that the success of the IceCube Neutrino Observatory was due partially to luck and to the talent of all his collaborators. Back in the 1980s, Halzen realised that the Antarctic ice could be ideal for ensnaring enough of these secretive neutrinos that researchers could learn more about their distant origins. He quickly convinced many others of his idea’s potential and, in 1992, a group of tenacious researchers and engineers made the first attempts to lower light sensors into the glacier at the South Pole. The breakthrough came around twenty years later: the IceCube neutrino telescope registered neutrinos with properties that convinced researchers they originated in distant regions of space. The hunt for the universe’s neutrino sources had begun in earnest.
