Thanks to @TheAtlantic and @evanasmith for letting me preach the gospel of local news in Portland! Think we made some new @MaineVillager fans.
Hey it’s @JeffreyGoldberg @Tyler_A_Harper @AshleyRParker and @gcaw in Maine at @MainePublic thanks to @evanasmith!
I am once again asking you to remember that Trump has six times (6!) called for eliminating LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, calling it "unnecessary" and promising lower energy costs instead. whitehouse.gov/wp-content/up…

2 reasons Susan Collins defied the polls and won in Maine in 2020:
1) Polls missed Trump support (and by extension Collins support) in blue collar ME-2
2) Staggering levels of support compared to all other GOP Senate candidates from anti-Trump voters:

News: Former Sen. Joe Manchin will campaign with GOP Sen. Susan Collins this week in Maine
Manchin said his visit is motivated by the attacks on Collins for voting too often in support of President Donald Trump: He said his trip is dedicated to “debunking” the idea that she’s been an enabler for Trump:“She is not a Trump senator"
Expect a lot of talk about their bipartisan work together on covid $, infrastructure and Electoral Count Act
Collins: "We need more people in the Senate, not fewer, who are willing to put partisanship aside, listen to one another, and deliver results"

“BASH: This week, there was a protester in the debate that you had with Susan Collins. She responded by saying "This must be a Troy Jackson supporter," and you told the senator, "Shut up." Do you regret saying that no?
JACKSON: No, she said that it was a Troy supporter. I mean, she accused me of setting that up. I had no idea who it was. I mean, I was surprised whenever he jumped up out of there. I have had four debates with Senator Collins. I have shook her hand afterwards every time. But what I'm not going to be is talked down to by Senator Collins. I'm not going to be accused of things like that. I mean, I'm fighting for Mainers. And, I mean, I just think that was another situation where she was talking down to me. And so I'm not -- I'm not going to apologize for that now.”
