The first Maruti 800 made in India had just 2.7% local content, while iPhones made in China had only 3.6% in 2009.
By 2017, China had reached 25%, while India hit 20% in just 8 years. The ₹19,000 crore subsidy Bloomberg calls a waste of public funds has generated over 3.5 lakh jobs.
@jayeshmatiyal debunks Bloomberg’s narrative on Indian manufacturing.

Rather presumptuous of you to give me this patronising advice.
I took an oath to the constitution on joining service.
I have served the country for four decades when different govts were in power.
No politics. Only national interest.
Can you as a journalist claim that?
My respect for the judiciary is respect for its constitutional position.
Your lack of trust in it is lack of respect for the constitution.

Entertaining a nation and serving a nation are two different things. Be it Naseeruddin Shah, Diya Mirza, Prakash Raj or Jaya Bachchan, remember that fame doesn't make Bollywood actors and actresses an authority, and being an entertainer doesn't make them the national hero.
Time to call out the hypocrisy. And I agree with this voice a 100%.

Susanta, you have confused four different things: resignation, removal, legal immunity, and the right to protest. Let me simplify this for you.
1. “CEC can resign.”
Of course he can! Did I say otherwise? Resignation is voluntary. Removal is a constitutional process. Article 324(5) protects the CEC from arbitrary removal, requiring the procedure applicable to a Supreme Court judge. A protest march cannot replace that procedure.
2. “Who gave him blanket safeguards?”
Parliament enacted the 2023 law. If you believe its provisions are unconstitutional, challenge them in court. But legal protection for official acts is not proof of electoral fraud. You need evidence of wrongdoing, not merely suspicion about the law.
3. “Why was the selection process modified?”
That is a legitimate question. The 2023 law replaced the CJI with a Union Cabinet Minister on the selection committee. Debate it, challenge it, seek judicial review. But explain how a disputed appointment mechanism, by itself, proves that the CEC has committed an offence warranting removal.
4. “How can the government permit protests against itself?”
By respecting Article 19(1)(b), which protects peaceful assembly, subject to constitutional restrictions. The right to protest is not a licence to violate lawful restrictions, threaten public order or force a constitutional office-holder out through street pressure.
And here is the question you keep dodging:
WHO, UNDER THE CONSTITUTION, CAN REMOVE THE CEC, AND THROUGH WHAT PROCEDURE?
The answer is not the Prime Minister, not the Home Minister, not a political party, and certainly not a protest crowd. It is the constitutionally prescribed parliamentary process.
You are free to question the law. You are free to protest peacefully. You are free to approach the courts.
But if your entire argument is that the CEC should resign because you distrust the process that appointed him, you have established a political objection, not grounds for constitutional removal.
Democracy gives you the right to protest. It does not give you the power to rewrite the Constitution by assembling a crowd.
Know the difference between demanding accountability and pretending that political pressure is a constitutional procedure.

What @kritisanon did was her choice ….however you are talking about freedom to wear when you would have been literally told what to wear by her costume designer.
You are a great artiste Kriti, and reactions would have been the same if instead of you, the guy was dressed stupidly. It’s not boys who are calling it out but very educated young liberals females who are sharing their angst.
It’s not against you, but understand the disappointment when our festivals are being commercialised in a very greedy way. No one would raise same emotion if you were doing an advert for a beverage on a Saturday night party.
By the way sharing an amazing ad by @amazonIN for this festival. People are free to decide, which one had more positive impact on the branding.

While she was doing her PhD in pure math at Princeton, the Iranian mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani was badly stuck with a permutations and combinations problem.
Thankfully, her dorm neighbor, an IIT Madras alumnus, had encountered the same problem when he had smashed the IITJEE 1989.
He had aced maths and physics but stumbled in chemistry, securing an All India Rank of 27. Back then, IITJEE had step marking and tested your reasoning unlike the MCQs of today.
He solved it for her and this led to Maryam Mirzakhani winning the Fields medal.
The quiet but Brilliant IITian moved back to India after his PhD. He is Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho and Arattai. He leads a simple life in a village despite his enormous wealth.
Totally agree. Makes it difficult for residents!

I am an Indian,
and everyone says I lack civic sense.
They can overturn cars, burn streets,
and vandalize a city after a championship game.
I dance at an airport excited about my first foreign trip, and suddenly I am the face of poor civic sense.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I steal jobs.
They move factories across oceans,
shift profits through tax havens,
and automate entire industries overnight.
I study, compete, earn a visa, work 18 hours a day, sometimes multiple jobs and somehow I am the one stealing jobs and scamming the system.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am everywhere.
I build your software,
treat your illness,
teach your children,
drive your taxis,
and open your stores.
The world became a village,
yet my presence remains a problem.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am too loud.
The evening news screams outrage.
Political rallies shake entire cities.
The internet echoes with anger day and night.
I celebrate a wedding, a festival, a victory,
and I am told my joy is too loud.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I smell of curry.
The world smells of gunpowder,
of hatred,
of division,
of endless arguments about race and religion.
I carry the fragrance of spices from my grandmother's kitchen,
and somehow that is what offends.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I have no culture.
I come from a civilization that counted the stars
when much of the world was still learning maps.
I speak languages older than nations.
I celebrate hundreds of traditions,
yet I am told I have no culture.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I am backward.
I send missions to the Moon.
I build vaccines for millions.
I run companies across continents.
Yet a viral video of one fool becomes evidence against a billion people.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I worship celebrities.
I celebrate my favorite actor's success
with flowers, music, and a few glasses of milk.
Others worship influencers who sell outrage, turn every disagreement into a battlefield, and every opinion into a war.
Yet my celebration is the one that makes headlines.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I gather in crowds.
We walk together in processions,
celebrating our faith, our culture, our traditions.
Everyone is welcome.
No shops are looted.
No neighborhoods are burned.
No one is threatened for thinking differently.
We sing.
We dance.
We pray.
And somehow our gathering becomes the problem.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I bring my culture everywhere.
I light a lamp in a foreign land.
I wear a saree in the snow.
I teach my children the language of their grandparents.
Others build walls between neighbors,
argue endlessly over identity,
and forget where they came from.
Yet I am told I should leave my culture behind.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I live in the past.
But my past gave me yoga,
mathematics, philosophy, meditation,
and the idea that the world is one family.
The future keeps borrowing from my past,
while telling me to be embarrassed by it.
I am an Indian,
and everyone says I should be ashamed.
Ashamed of my accent.
Ashamed of my food.
Ashamed of my festivals.
Ashamed of my traditions.
Ashamed of existing.
But I am not ashamed.
I am the child of farmers and philosophers,
scientists and saints, workers and dreamers.
I come from a land that taught the world
that truth can be many-sided,
that all paths deserve respect,
and that the entire world is one family.
Yes, we have flaws. Every nation does.
But judge me by my actions, not by your stereotypes.
For I am an Indian.
And before you tell me what is wrong with me, look honestly at what you have normalized in yourself.
For I am an Indian.
The world may mock my accent,
question my customs,
laugh at my celebrations,
and judge me through a thousand stereotypes.
Yet I stand tall.
For I belong to a civilization older than empires, a culture richer than prejudice, and a people whose spirit refuses to bend.
