We've talked about the heart and the mind. Now for the part we love to skip: the hands.
Your hands are your skills, competencies, resources, systems, and discipline. They turn your intentions and plans into results people can actually see.
Think about what that looks like in real life. It's the person who can pitch the idea, not just have it. The leader who can build a team around the vision. The one who manages their time and money well enough to keep going when the excitement fades. Vision gets you started. Capacity keeps you moving.
This is why our Identity Mentorship class spent time looking honestly at personal strengths and weaknesses. Not to make anyone feel small, but to answer a simple question: do I have what this vision requires, or do I need to grow into it?
In essence, what’s that one skill you need to learn or build on this week?

Some rooms hum differently. Yesterday, the Kampala Marriott was one of them.
Day one of the 9th Africa Technology and Intellectual Property Symposium opened with a question that sounds simple and isn’t: what does it actually take to build a digital single market for Africa? By the time the breakouts on digital taxation and cybersecurity wrapped up, we were a little closer to an answer.
Somewhere between the sessions on regional policy, MSMEs and consumer protection, a picture kept forming. A young entrepreneur has the product, the customers and the ambition. Then a border shows up. Payments, customs, delivery, uncertainty about whose rules apply. For a small business, that’s often where the dream stops.
It’s why the @KagutaMuseveni message, delivered by the Attorney General, @drsam_mayaja landed so well. A regional trust seal, so a buyer can tell who’s real online, but built so the smallest seller can afford it too. Rules only count when the person at the very end of the chain can use them.
Yesterday gave us the questions. Today is where we start pushing for answers.
Day two is happening now at the Kampala Marriott Hotel, and you can still join us online. I’m looking forward to meeting you in the conference hall today.

We're kicking off the KTA Annual Africa Technology and Intellectual Property Symposium, two days built around one big question: what will it take to build Africa's Digital Single Market? Right now, the rules on data, digital trade and intellectual property are being written, and the lawyers in the room will be the ones helping to shape them.
That's why this conversation matters. For two days, lawyers, regulators and innovators will tackle the issues that will define how business is done across our borders, and walk away with ideas worth taking back to their clients and their firms.
Whether you're joining us in the room or from your screen, there's a seat with your name on it. It's not too late to register: symposium-iptech.com
A big thank you to our partners for backing this with us.
Two days, one room, and a lot to shape. Let's make it count!

A vision that lives only in your head is just a nice thought.
Last Monday we started with the heart. Today, the mind.
The heart gives you the why. The mind gives you the what and the how. It's where you think, envision, strategise, plan and decide.
In our Identity Mentorship class, we each wrote down a personal vision, then turned it into a SMART goal. What had been a feeling became something we could measure, with a clear first step and a deadline.
But a brilliant blueprint is still just a blueprint until someone has the capacity to build it. That's where we're headed in the coming weeks.
So tell me: have you written your vision down yet, or is it still living in your head?

You can have the heart to pursue something and the mind to map out how to get there, and still not have the capacity to bring it to life. That's the gap we're going to talk about for the next few Mondays.
We'll start with the heart, because that's where it all begins. In our Identity Mentorship class, we worked on building a personal value system, and one theme kept coming back: Faith Over Fear. Your heart carries your values, your conviction and your reason for starting. It's the part that says, "this matters."
But here's the honest bit. A strong why will get you started.
It won't, on its own, get you to the finish line.
So let me ask you: what's the one thing your heart won't let you walk away from?

It's always something special when a conversation outlives the moment it happened in. One of @MosesMaurice 's mentees at Corner Chat recently shared what stayed with him after our time together there, and hearing it reflected back this way is exactly why I show up for these conversations.
Among the truths he shared was this: Y𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Change doesn't start with your circumstances, it starts with the decision to see yourself differently and act from that place, even before the proof shows up.
He also spoke about how 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠. Growth is measured in clarity, purpose, and impact, not just numbers on a page. When you chase meaning first, everything else tends to find its place.
And one that stayed with me too: I𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐱, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐱.You were never meant to shrink yourself to fit spaces that weren't built for you. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is have the courage to build something entirely your own.
These are the kinds of shifts that happen through honest, real conversations, the kind that challenge how you think and push you toward who you're meant to become. If any of this resonates, it might be your sign.
What an honour it is when a conversation creates this kind of impact.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞.
That gap is rarely talked about.
The hardest parts of leading are often invisible: making unpopular decisions and standing by them, carrying a decision's weight alone before anyone else knows, walking into a room composed while privately unsure the strategy is working.
These seasons show up when vision moves faster than an organization's capacity to execute. Effort is high, results lag, and people look to you for certainty you don't fully feel.
But uncertainty is not evidence of inadequacy. It's often just the psychological cost of carrying responsibility before the answers are clear.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭.
They adjusted. They rested. They recalibrated. They kept going, slower, bruised, but going.
But one difficult season is not a verdict on your entire purpose.
So if leadership feels heavier than you imagined, don't quit on it.
𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝. 𝐀𝐬𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩. 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠.
Some of the most consequential chapters of leadership begin precisely where certainty ends.

Some conversations don't just fill an afternoon; they leave you with ideas to wrestle with long after they are over.
Last week, I had the pleasure of catching up with my good friend, fellow author and AI advocate, @reachDrMuganga , Vice Chancellor of Victoria University and, like me, someone deeply passionate about the power of ideas and books.
What began as a catch-up quickly became one of the more thought-provoking conversations I've had in a while.
For those who may not know, Dr Muganga is the author of several books, including From Chalk to Chatbots, which explores the intersection of education and artificial intelligence, and Why Fish Can't Climb Trees, a provocative call to rethink and restructure education systems.
Our conversation eventually arrived at something I have been thinking about more deeply lately: the need for authors to come together more intentionally.
Writing is, by its very nature, a solitary pursuit. We spend hours alone with our thoughts researching, questioning, drafting, deleting, rewriting and, sometimes, wondering whether the idea that seemed brilliant at midnight still makes sense the following morning.
But there is another side to the intellectual journey.
What happens when writers step out of that solitude and into conversation with one another?.
That was perhaps the most exciting part of our exchange.
We moved beyond the craft of writing into the broader possibilities that emerge when people who spend their lives thinking, questioning and creating actually engage one another's ideas.
Ideas were tested. Perspectives challenged. Assumptions questioned. New possibilities emerged.
And somewhere in between the conversation, we found ourselves imagining what it might look like to create more intentional spaces where authors, thinkers, educators and knowledge creators can meet not merely to celebrate books, but to exchange ideas, interrogate society and shape new thinking.
That stayed with me.
Perhaps we need fewer moments where authors simply admire one another's work from a distance, and more spaces where we can sit at the same table and think together.
I walked away from that conversation with much to reflect on and an even stronger conviction that Uganda and Africa need more spaces for intellectual exchange, literary collaboration and conversations that move ideas from the page into society.
Thank you, Dr Muganga, for the conversation and for reminding me of the power of collaboration.

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡.
There's something about this particular Monday, closing one chapter while opening another almost in the same breath. It would be easy to rush past it, but I think it deserves a moment of pause.
I've learned that most of the meaningful things I've done didn't start with confidence. They started with a small, uncertain step, taken before I felt ready for it. The clarity always came after, never before. Looking back at this month, I can see that pattern again. The moments that mattered most weren't the ones I planned perfectly; they were the ones I simply showed up for.
So as we step into this final week of the month, wherever you are, mid-project, mid-decision, mid-doubt, you don't need everything resolved to move forward. You just need to take the next small step and let the rest reveal itself.
Be gentle with yourself, but keep moving. And take a moment this week to notice how far you've already come.
Wishing you a soft, steady close to the month, and an even softer start to what's next. 🤍

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠?🌿
It's easy to know the version of ourselves we show the world. The harder part is meeting the person behind it.
On Saturday, I asked my Identity Mentorship mentees that question, and the room went quiet. The good kind of quiet, where you can tell people are really thinking.
Then I asked: 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞?
Here's where we landed:
𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟. Understand where you thrive and where you need to grow.
𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞. Your choices become habits, and your habits build your reputation.
𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠. Vision gives your dreams direction. Goals turn it into action.
Their challenge was to create a one-page personal compass: who they are, what they value, where they're headed, and their next 90 days. 👑
Thank you, mentees, for being so open and honest. It's a privilege to walk this with you.
𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲: 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬, 𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧? Tell me in the comments. ✨
