A design thinking cycle served as part of a summative assessment of learning about ngss science standards challenging Ss to understand how creatures survive with specific structures and adaptations. Here students designed their own animals that could survive the rugged tidepools!
Our learning trip to the Aquarium was a success! We were able to touch and see many amazing creatures. To top it off, our class with a marine biologist was very fascinating. Thanks go to our adult chaperones as well!
We've been crafting some adorable scientific models of tidepools to explain our thinking surrounding this unique habitat!
Writing can be a collaborative process! The ability to build ideas together, draft, revise, and edit is magnified when done in thoughtful groupings. Here, students use peers to jump-start their narrative fiction writing.
The arts are alive and well at Delar Heights! Here students explore Irish dancing and Brazilian instruments and rhythms.
We use several different conversation structures to support thinking through listening and speaking together!
Crafting structures to replicate the adaptations of tide pool creatures in science lab helps us put our learning to use!
Learning that planning is a key part of the writing process helps lead our young authors towards success!
Our sharing presentations are going so well! Students take their opportunities to research, write, and present with growing confidence. We'll done!
Exploring sound with our science teacher Mrs. Minarik is always an experience-filled time. Here, Ss experiment and observe in study of sound and its characteristics.
