Listen to this man - he knows!!
George Solomon — the legendary Washington Post sports editor who helped cultivate the newsroom culture that eventually inspired PTI — reflected on the Post’s decision to shutter its sports section and eliminate most of its staff.
“We lost something very, very big today… and they ought to correct it.”

Sensational having our last episode of @AroundtheHorn documented by @ringer! This is some gorgeous writing of @jakeks19! What a way to shut it down!

Don’t make me cry @_BennettSolomon !!
This is my dad, @asolomon6. Today is the last episode of @AroundtheHorn, a show he's produced since the start. @TonyReali, the people behind the scenes, and the panelists are all amazing. I got into sports media because of this show, and I know 5 pm on ESPN will never be the same

With @AroundtheHorn's final show on Friday, here's the roster of all-time panelists over 23 years. If you add @TonyReali, who made select panel appearances, it's 61 people - a special club. Wonder how many sports fans can name them all?

All those warm recollections here from ATH alumni are spot-on. In the end, the show's legacy is its participants (and the fact it was the greatest talent incubator in sports TV history). I barely qualify as "talent," but I deeply enjoyed the experience: nytimes.com/athletic/6370068…

Being on @AroundtheHorn was a career highlight for me, even if it was just a few shows (and I was mid, at best). I am grateful for the opportunity @TonyReali @asolomon6 and the entire team gave me, and I'm happy to have been able to write some thoughts on the experience ⬇️

Have sat in this little room hundreds of times over the last 8 years to do Around the Horn….and this was the last time. I’ll miss a lot about the show but nothing more than the people.
Thank you @TonyReali @asolomon6 @joshbard

Like many millennial sports fans, I grew up on “Around the Horn.” For @nymag, I talked to the show’s host, producers, panelists, and network executives to figure out what its unexpected cancellation means for the future of ESPN.
