Connecting through ORD….bad planning or punishment?
Happy flight(s) back home today. First stop @asraza’s favorite airport Ohare. But I do get starlink on my first leg on this E75. ORD to STL will be on a A319.
I have said this before and am saying it again…@SouthwestAir needs to de-emphasize Midway and load up at @flystl. Better weather. Less congestion. More capacity. Makes too much sense. @GreaerSTLinc
Southwest Airlines abandoned Chicago O’Hare earlier this year to concentrate its operations at Midway. Just months later, its main Chicago airport has been forced to close one of its busiest runways for approximately a month.
The culprit? Jet engine blast damage.
Chicago Midway has shut runway 4R/22L after powerful engine exhaust damaged its emergency stopping system, which is designed to prevent aircraft from overrunning the runway.
And the timing isn’t particularly kind to Southwest.
Although Midway technically has four runways, only two are primarily used by commercial airlines. With one now closed, the airport must squeeze its regular airline traffic onto the remaining main runway.
Southwest operates roughly 80% of Midway’s flights, leaving it particularly exposed to potential delays and disruption.
Airport officials are working with the FAA and airlines to minimise the impact, with repairs expected to continue until mid-November.
That should put the runway back into action before Thanksgiving, assuming everything goes to plan.

Hey @kdemoff, don't feel bad, little buddy! Your old friends in STL still believe in you! @bobunderwood66
The world’s strongest man @shawstrength stopped by the Islamic Foundation of Greater STL to share his experiences and insights with the community youth. Impressive person.
Auburn just did what #mizzoufootball just can’t do. Win a big game on the road.
Did not expect Mizzou to embarrass itself like this today. Everyone questioning their ranking is justified. No interest in hearing Drink's comments following this one. Until he wins a big game on the road, he shouldn't say much. Awful performance.
I have never heard the name “Tynan” before and now the Blues have Tynan Lawrence and TJ Tynan in the organization 🤔
Seems like everyone loves to jump on #mizzoutigers calling them "overrated"....and then we have the Texas Longhorns.
You seem to routinely (purposefully?) keep STL out of this effort. SWA has the connecting traffic and @flystl has the capacity to fill planes to Europe, HNL and South America.
I love the X community; thanks for the feedback! Updated my Southwest 787 map:
- Removed DAL and MDW for airfield constraints.
- Added BNA, though I worry about its new international capacity.
- Added a few longer shots.
FYI, PIA signed for two Norse 787s today.

ALT Where Southwest's 787s could fly. Hypothetical routes from DEN, LAS, BNA, MCO, and BWI, colored by base. Thick lines are safer bets; thin lines are longer shots. Enlarged Europe shows London Gatwick, Manchester, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Venice, Rome, Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon. Other possibilities include Honolulu, Denver to Kona, Las Vegas to Tokyo and Seoul, and Orlando to São Paulo and Rio. None of the 787 routes are announced.
Soccer observation:
Good: The running clock
Bad: Amount of time wasted watching players writhing in “pain” acting like they’re going into labor.
