Almost every morning, I look out of my window and imagine being somewhere else. I finally wrote about where that feeling came from, and how it became Mentally Here. A personal story about home, longing, and the places I couldn't go. 💙

1/8 Almost every morning, I wake up and look toward my window. And I catch myself wishing that, just for once, the view would be somewhere else. This is where Mentally Here really began. 💙 A little story 🧵

I thought making Mentally Here would mostly be about making images. I ended up spending just as much time on maps, videos, stories, and places I knew almost nothing about. Somewhere along the way, research became its own kind of daydreaming. 💙

GM 💙 I think Mentally Here started from a very everyday feeling: waking up in the same room, in the same place, while your mind is already somewhere else. Traveling to the places we dream about is not always simple. Sometimes it feels too far, too expensive, or just not possible at the moment. So I began imagining those places instead. That quiet habit of imagining became Mentally Here.

Mentally Here started during a time when I felt like I needed to get out of my own head. I remember wanting something very simple: more space, real air, trees, water, mountain, just something beyond the walls of a room. I think I was looking for a way to feel grounded again.
