I am not Anti AI. I am not Pro AI. My thesis is simple -- Like EVERY technology before it, it will have benefits that will remove friction, and when you remove friction, your skills atrophy. And we can't let that happen. We have to supplement the skills people will lose.

Zion's trainer is gonna get on here, acting all tough when Zion gets 30 in a 15 point loss, bit not acknowledge that the man couldn't grab one rebound a quarter to go with it

Pelicans know they can't hold a 20 point lead, so their new strategy is to go down 20 early.

Bo Jackson played his entire NFL career in Los Angeles, so I am confused -- do the Rams or the Chargers retire his jersey?

“A school, employer, or company promising responsible use needs to explain what happens when a person slows down, asks for help, or decides the answer is not good enough to use.” From The Quiet Cost, Chapter 12 thequietcost.ai

The Lost Qualifier gives you a careful claim and the much more confident version somebody passed along. Your job is to catch what changed. Three short rounds of being the person who actually read the fine print. thequietcost.app

Perfect example on X today. An issue everyone can see (rising injuries) and each person acts as an expert, with their pet theories and then call people who disagree dumb, essentially. We all think we are the smartest person in the room, but how can that be, mathematically?
Injuries have almost doubled in the last 20 years in the NBA. Casuals point to pace, analytics, and every other buzzword ESPN has told them. The reality is that pace is down since the 2019 season and in the last decade it’s remained largely unchanged, changing by ~ 1.5 possessions. MPG is also way down on a player by player basis and teams rest players more than ever. There is two real issues that the data points to: 1. Less multi sport play/more early specialization. Widely linked to more injuries in athletes down the road. Unfortunately, there is too much money in youth specialization for this to change. 2. The NBA rulebook allows for 4-5x the explosive plays in today’s game because of freedom of movement. The easy solution to this is universal adoption of FIBA. The bandaid is elimination of defensive 3 seconds.

According to a collection of recent surveys, 92% of people label themselves as "above average intelligence" You need to know nothing else to see why we have such a difficult time conversing with one another in this country.

I think “purpose” has always been fluid and we will move on to some other reason for being. Something that is fake and contrived, as everything before it has been. We, as a species, are fantastic at lying to ourselves
We humans are going to have to decide whether jobs exist simply to accomplish tasks or if employment as a social technology is worth preserving to maintain social order. Because companies are making decisions with heavy social consequences based on their own economic incentives.

Play this game today. Curious how people do
The Route gives you directions once, then asks questions out of order. You have to remember the route rather than just the next turn. Try it with someone who always claims they know a better way to get somewhere. thequietcost.app

You can both say that Jim Brown never played for the franchise that is in Cleveland AND that he was a Cleveland Brown Both things can be true. Both things are true.

The Ship of Theseus is one of the best thought exercises of all time. Does it have a “correct” answer? No. No great thought exercises do. They are made to see what a person prioritizes and why. People in 2026 really lack the ability to engage in thought exercises like that, and we have to question why.
