Could quantum sensing give India a new way to detect stealth aircraft, track submarines and navigate without GPS?
Dr Ravi Kumar, Co-founder and CTO of Singapore-based @atomionics, joins @SandeepUnnithan to explain how quantum sensors use tiny variations in Earth's gravity to map underground structures, locate critical minerals and potentially transform military detection. How close are we to making stealth less effective? And what will it take to turn quantum research into operational defence technology?

On 31 July we opened our integrated quantum sensing hub at Alexandra Technopark.
Minister of State Gan Siow Huang officiated, and guests watched a quantum gravimeter measure gravity live.
Here's what the day looked like.
Minister of State Gan Siow Huang officiated the opening of Asia's first integrated quantum sensing hub, built to secure the ocean.
On 31 July, Minister Gan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore), made it official. Investors and leaders from government, defence, and industry saw the instrument run live and walked through our labs where the next generation of sensing is being built.
We're also grateful to SG Growth Capital for its support of Atomionics over the years.

The world is racing to secure critical minerals it hasn't found yet. Here, it's being solved differently.
Asia's first integrated quantum sensing hub opens at Alexandra Technopark: quantum, gravimetry, & AI under one roof.
On 31 July, a Singapore minister commissions it, live.
The industry cites his past. We build our future with him.
Prof. Philippe, a pioneer of taking cold-atom interferometry out of the lab, joins Atomionics.
He built the first transportable absolute quantum gravimeter, and now he's here to build the next one with us.

It was a pleasure to meet and interact with startup venture capitalists in Singapore today. Venture capital plays a critical role in transforming ideas into scalable enterprises, supporting innovation, risk-taking and the creation of future industries. With our enterprising population, initiatives such as One Family One Entrepreneur, and an unmatched commitment to Speed of Doing Business, Andhra Pradesh offers a strong foundation for innovation-led growth. We have also established institutions such as the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub to nurture startups and create opportunities in emerging sectors. I invited the community to partner with us, back breakthrough innovations and be part of Andhra Pradesh's growth story.

POV: 30 quantum-curious students walk into your lab and actually see real cold atoms in action.
What was meant to be a tour turned into a hangout. The questions kept getting better, and the engineers were having more fun than the students. One of our best afternoons in a while.
Sean Gerrish joins Atomionics as a Lead AI Advisor. He led the team behind the ML models powering YouTube's homepage.
Now he'll help build our AI geologist: the platform that turns what our sensors read about the planet into decisions about what lies below ground.
Welcome, Sean.
AI is now competing for the same minerals the energy transition depends on. Clean energy alone may consume nearly 90% of lithium by the 2040s. New deposits aren't keeping up.
We spend a lot of time thinking about what is under the ground, and why so little of it has been found.
GRAVIO left the lab and came back with a map of what to build next.
The field shows where the gain has to come from. Lab rebuilds. Every deployment becomes the blueprint for the next one.
This is our story. An invitation is coming. Stay tuned!
