One reason much of Nollywood's output over the past decade has struggled to resonate with global audiences is a lack of authenticity, compounded by poor writing, among other things.

I think we’re so starved for representation and recognition on foreign platforms/stages that we rush to celebrate everything even when we’re the joke. I might be hyper sensitive but I personally I’m never thrilled at caricature portrayals of Nigerian culture or Nollywood. I get why people find it funny and if we were in a global media landscape that was flush with portrayals of Nigerians or our culture with excellence, I might find it enjoyable.

a question i have is what does it mean for someone to say they don’t like that kind of representation of nollywood? are you ashamed of what nollywood is? or you don’t think that nollywood is what they showed? idk if i am phrasing my question correctly

This is interesting because I’ve never heard of this person before today. Plenty Lagos in one Lagos.
The simple truth is that Glam by Omoye has revolutionized the Nigerian makeup scene. The lifted eye look almost all the MUAs do now is cause of her. They all shoot content with professional cameras now cause of her.

If hitting an adult is considered assault, why doesn’t that apply to hitting children? We know raising kids is not easy, but there has to be better ways of disciplining them without hitting, no?
Every time the conversation about child abuse resurfaces, you people fight for your rights to abuse your children. But you turned out well so no wam
