SB 104, creating a removal process for Wildlife Commissioners and completing the NM Game and Fish Department modernization work, is now law! Last year we helped pass SB 5, which updated hunting & fishing license fees, changed the name of the dept, & clarified the dept's authority
SB 104 helps make the Wildlife Commission less political & ensures wildlife management decisions are based on the best available science, without fear of political retaliation. A transparent removal process for Commissioners was the last piece of the puzzle to modernize the dept.
SB 104 passed the legislature unanimously and ensures that Commissioners will only be removed for cause, and with a hearing. We thank @senatorwirth for his leadership in shepherding it through.

Today we celebrated a huge water policy win. SB1611—our bipartisan Ag-to-Urban water legislation—marks a major step toward securing Arizona’s water, lowering housing costs, and growing our economy.
Thank you to the advocates, lawmakers, and community leaders who worked tirelessly to make this happen. Together, we’re protecting our most precious resource while building a stronger Arizona.
