Aural Animus

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but since there's been an unfortunate uptick lately: Celebrity deaths don't affect me, and never really have. Upon hearing about them, I'll ruminate on it for a second, say "man, that sucks," and then go on with my day.... sorry if I'm a dick.

....big fan of these guys. Danny Estrin (vocalist) was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer in 2023, and while given 12 months to live at that time, continues to march on, perform, and also work as an immigration lawyer....cool story. youtu.be/H_wzh3smiy4?is=kvbM…

Hey kids, Elmo is now in his forties, so if he asks you to tickle him, please tell your parents. ...and if a discerning metalhead asks you to latch on to the Kman's Asphyxiating Agenda, do so immediately!

...new tune. It's fine. youtube.com/watch?v=Mv33F8yq…

....harrowing, pummeling, Epic Doom!

ALA - "The Dragon's Return" I would almost describe this as violent and extreme Blackened Thrash that dabbles in Psychedelic paranoia. Either way, the tumultuous nature of this beat shant be ignored or denied...great!

Dragonland - "Prophecies" Okay, this is cheesier than a Grand Canyon-size cauldron of fondu, but the galloping melodies, soaring vocals, and Power Metal Invocations will bring an eternity of enlightenment to the masses...killer!

LITOST - "Logos" This is a finely crafted blackened death scourge that will barrage your lobes like an infantry closing in on a compromised platoon, all while adding in some remarkable melodic odes to their Spanish Heritage...excellent!

Absolute awesomeness!

This album is really good at alternating between the ominous moods fostered with more pristine melodic elements, before delving in to unabashed musical terror...great!

I'm reading the FFO on this, and I absolutely cannot wait to give this a listen!

I was contemplating trying my hand (excuse the pun) as a Professional Poker Player, but instead of using the "Poker Face" to hide my emotions, I would use the excited smiley face with the "oooh!," "ahhhh!" and other gasps of enjoyment for every hand to infer they're all great.

My buddy's five year old refers to his Hot Wheels Cars as "his girlfriends." Our other female friend can't relate as she's never dated a toy without batteries. I can't relate to not having the Kman's malicious manifest as party of my weekly routine!

These guys never disappoint....can't wait until Friday! youtube.com/watch?v=ySz3OHFl…

Fun fact: I sparingly watch TV, but when I do, I enjoy the secondary subchannels from the antennae more than anything on cable or streaming.

...consistently, one of the better Power Metal Bands going youtube.com/watch?v=SJFxTXd3…

If Frank Zappa were still alive and opted to do a death Metal album, I would imagine it would sound something like this....fun stuff!

Awesome!

Call me a ninnyhammer if you must but: To me, these guys lean on the finer aspects of Paradise Lost & Amorphis while concocting a melodic profusion of emotion that kicks ass & they can call their own. ...or if you agree, feel free to call me a ninnyhammer anyway.
