Signed from Stanley Utd aged 20 in 1957, OTD in 1964 #Arsenal's prolific inside-forward Geoff Strong was transferred to #Liverpool.
Along with Joe Baker and George Eastham in The Gunners' attack, Strong was a bright spot for the Highbury faithful in a period of wilderness.

Remembering Jim Fotheringham, who made his #Arsenal debut on this day 1954. A commanding Scottish centre-half who stood at 6ft 4in. Joined the club in 1949 aged 15 and spent 10 years at Highbury playing 76 first team matches. Born in 1933, sadly we lost Jim in 1977 aged only 43.

#OTD in 1932, Gillespie Road station was renamed to Arsenal Station.
This is largely down to Herbert Chapman, who pushed hard for the Tube stop just behind the North Bank to be renamed, saying, "Whoever heard of Gillespie Road, it is Arsenal around here!"
Visionary.

Whatever the correct date, I'll say that on this day (close enough) 1932 Herbert Chapman persuaded London Electric Railway to change the name of the station Gillespie Road to #Arsenal, to date the only London Underground station to be named after a football club.

Remembering former #Arsenal keeper Frank Moss on his heavenly Birthday in 1909. He won the League three times, scored a rare goal as a winger in a game he dislocated his shoulder - an injury he never really recovered and was forced to retire aged 27. Moss died in 1970 aged 60.
