Having a court that can overrule the elected government was the worst idea in the US Constitution. Israel and Britain were both foolish to imitate it. Guys, what did you *think* would happen if you let someone take a contentious issue out of the scope of institutions of consent?
For Americans wondering what the hell is happening in Poland today: Poland is having a constitutional crisis, and apparently nobody can agree on who gets to enforce the Constitution. Here’s the background: Poland has a conservative president, Karol Nawrocki, and a liberal prime minister, Donald Tusk. When conservatives were in power, they overhauled the courts and appointed judges. Liberals called it illegal. Now liberals are in power and trying to undo those changes. Conservatives are calling that illegal. Naturally, everyone claims they’re defending democracy. Here’s what happened today: • A judge announced the suspension of the Constitutional Court’s conservative chief justice and his deputy. • Police secured the court building and reportedly prevented the chief justice from entering. • The court’s official X account called it a “coup d’état.” • The justice minister is seeking to lift the judges’ immunity to pursue criminal charges. • Protesters gathered outside, and several people were detained. • Poland’s president reportedly cut short his trip to Senegal to return home. Imagine Democrats and Republicans fighting over who controls the Supreme Court, while police secure the building and both sides accuse each other of staging a coup. The entire dispute is about who has the legal authority to interpret the Constitution, except neither side agrees on who gets to decide that either.

anyone check with the 'inner-monologuers' whether their 'monologue' is, in fact, a narration contextualizing their actions for the consumption of an audience who has replaced our dead judicious god a jaynesian 'consciousness', but not schizo- narcissistic

some say he never started
Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) says he didn't write songs for the longest time because he was afraid of finding out he wasn't any good at it, so he just did stuff to appear busy instead.

a tech company should hire me for seo or python in the mutual understanding that i will never do seo or python
There seems to be less falling into jobs now. So many bios have like "I got into company a doing x and it sucked but they needed help doing y (even though I had no experience/education doing y) , and that's how my career started". They Just hire externally for y now.

men have no business in the business of 'deservedness' or 'worthiness' don't even think in those terms, or all your relationships will be consumed in absurd infinite regress
(earlier) 2yo: (distressed screaming) me: 5yo! get out of his face! 5yo: (stomping off, wailing) I don't DESERVE to have ANYTHING GOOD (later) me: 5yo can we talk about what you said earlier? you "don't deserve to have anything good?" i don't want you to ever feel like that 5yo: (nothing) @selentelechia: robot. you don't need to react like this. girls just say things like that me: what? 5yo: (grinning) @selentelechia: i said things like that all the time when i was her age me: what what

patronizing anti-nicotine campaigns are fundamentally counter-productive that one finds oneself enduring the contempt *is* a 'trigger' for a 'yearning' to manage your self-contempt in exposing yourself to such cretins
Replying to @BecomingCritter
cigarettes desensitize one to social contempt, and you were being patronized

what if we openly acknowledged education is a degradation a taking of everything that could never flourish in servile mediocrity the taken thing fouled and wasted by the gormless idiot; unworthy of return and one must attend unsanctioned business, abstracted from 'worthiness'

huh, this small side project of mine is designed to address the singularity i've lived my whole life maybe someone would find it useful
New from me: why the post-singularity future may be a lonely place.

the first time i felt helplessly, hopelessly anxious was while living in an enormous cabin with a dozen tropical birds physiology isn't determinant
There has to be some evolutionary significance to how people are calmed by birds. We’re all descended from people who, in despair, heard birds singing and thought ‘Maybe it’ll be okay.’ People who heard birdsong and felt nothing must’ve given up and left no descendants.

villains who talk back to the author are terrifying
This guy has been sending me Charlie Kirk memes for like a year and then anxiously blocking before I can reply it’s bizarre

can you imagine the cognition when some tries to reason with The Author? 'oh, another foil! this character might even think they're the author! but that is not an Authorial Thing To Say!'
it's the authors' running commentary on the villain to their infantile audience; the villain *must* do villainous things, but the authors reassure the audience they disapprove, and the authors will not let them get away with it they're the authors and the audience
