How did Lula win the runoff? By winning over those who didn’t vote for him in round 1. His biggest gains came in places with more women, more white voters and more evangelicals. 🧵

People who know these things: how necessary is it to use scrim tape if you're filling in a crack? Can I get away with just digging it out, coating with some peel stop, and then chucking the filler on top of that?

I understand why we journalists press Labour on their housing target - but IMO questioning why they won’t hit it & what they plan to do is now far more urgent: - housebuilding in trouble because of rising costs and developers unwilling or unable to adjust their profit expectations…plus - …younger buyers locked out so can’t buy their homes partly because of… - fluctuating mortgage rates due to global volatility… - and the fact nobody in their right mind wants a leasehold flat now (flats key to building at scale)
Speaking with Anne McElvoy, Housing Secretary Angela Rayner says Labour’s promise at the last general election to build 1.5 million new homes was “always a stretch target”

This is actually a much more interesting question than @IainDale gives it credit for! Like every goth-curious teenager who read Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, I loved going to the Hunterian museum. All those organs in jars! The bones of Charles Byrne! But...
Can we display an ancient Egyptian mummy without its consent? The Cross Question panel discuss the curious case at the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow.

John Hunter acquired the cadaver of Charles Byrne against the man's express wishes. The people dissected by Hunter were overwhelmingly of the London poor. There's a question about whether, over time, scientific and historical interest 'wins out' over the wishes of the dead.

Do ethical constraints degrade with the passage of time, or don't they? That's the question posed by the displays of mummies, and other human remains!

I’ve been detained by the IDF, along with a group of rabbis & volunteers. We were simply harvesting olives in a grove near Nehalim in the West Bank. The occupation is a crime under international law. Harvesting olives isn’t a crime under any law I know.

If none of the Jackdaw gas was exported, the most optimistic scenario has it meeting 2% of the UK’s annual gas demand over a 10 year period.
I welcome today's decision on Jackdaw. I have always argued that we should use our own resources to enhance our energy security. (1/3)

'To be, or not to be' has been repeated through the centuries to the point of becoming noise. We're at risk, as audiences, of receiving it as a pastiche of itself: grand, posturing, giving-it-Shakespeare. Andrew Scott's delivery brings it back to something simple, direct, and human. This is a young man letting you into his suicidal ideation.
Andrew Scott delivers this speech too slowly; I know some viewers will hate the way he breaks up the verse. AND YET even in spite of that I think this is the best delivery of this soliloquy I’ve ever seen. He makes it sound like it’s not a portentous speech everyone already knows but a morally serious real-time deliberation, by a highly intelligent person in extreme pain, considering what it would mean to end his own life.

I appreciate actors taking big swings with Shakespeare, even if they don't always quite work. For every Andrew Scott's Hamlet, you've got to accept a few Mark Rylances playing Iago as Wario 😩

‘Christopher Nolan has turned him [Odysseus] into a sufferer of PTSD, and Calypso - Charlize Theron is like his yoga teacher therapist on his island. He's on a little retreat. She's in her bikini. It's not sexual. She helps him get in touch with his feelings, and he gets over his PTSD and his guilt so he can go home to his wife.’ Ash Sarkar talking to Catherine Liu about Christopher Nolan's fundamental misunderstanding of The Odyssey.

Grns performed as Britain Predicts expects. But Lab outperform. To what extent that is... A greater willingness to tactically vote Lab to beat the Grns And/or A reflection of the Labour bounce in London ... needs some research. Will change a few dynamics either way.

From everything I’ve heard and seen, here’s where we are in Holborn & Stp - I think: Lab: 41-43% Greens: 31-33% A decent showing for Greens, & maybe slightly above May. It could mean dozens of MPs in a GE. But you can’t but feel it could have been higher…. We’ll see.

Replying to @AyoCaesar
For context.
It is true that the Greens got 10% last time. But Andrew Feinstein got 19%, but this time didn't run and instead told his supporters to vote Green.
